Jake Peavy

By the way, if Peavy has dropped his no trade to Milwaukee and Melvin and Towers are talking, I could see something happening shortly after the draft, once Melvin sees what his haul is and where the organization stands depth-wise.
Thats a great point. I thought it was confusing that we took a catcher in the 2nd round when we already have Salome and Lucroy in the upper levels of our system but it mightve been a precursor to a deal along with the two college pitchers we took. I wonder if a deal like the one below could come to fruition since we theoritically drafted there replacements.

Parra = Peavy

Jeffress = Arnett

Salome / Lucroy = Garfield

Dillard or A+ ball or below pitcher = Heckathorn

I think it makes too much sense to happen though. They want mlb ready pitching and they get 2 in return right away with Parra and Dillard along with Jeffress who still has incredible upside thrown in with a good catcher for a team that has appears to be lacking in the catching department. Lorenzo Cain, Cole Gillespie or Caleb Gindl might make sense also with Brian Giles getting old but they seem to be sitting pretty good in the outfield department in the minors.

So what do you guys think? Does Peavy for Parra, Jeffress, Salome/Lucroy and Dillard sound fair?

I probably wouldn't trade more than two of Parra/Jeffress/Dillard, simply because I wouldn't want to gut our potential pitching we'd have available if someone gets injured. Other than that I think your proposal is realistic.

Just talked to someone involved with Peavy and I really don't have any news. Like I said last week, he will play in Milwaukee if the Brewers can work out a trade. Believe it or not, agents sometimes are not privy to trade info until it actually happens. What was confirmed again was that Milwaukee and the Cardinals are openly talking trade with San Diego.

Sorry for the lack of info. Brian got me pretty fired up too and I can't wait to hear the inevitable trade. I know Mark and Doug are really working overtime to make something happen to improve this club now. I think it will really give the team a kick in the pants too if something happens the next 24 hours.

Too bad for the Padres. This makes Peavy's value drop quite a bit. One of the things the Brewers wanted to do was acquire Peavy early in the game to help make a run THIS season. I really don't expect this deal ever to be done unless Brewers are around the same spot on July 30th and had not made any significant moves and Peavy is ready to pitch which it looks like he may not be.

I think this was the deal that Brian was referring to to start this posting but the injury made it vanish.

The price for Cliff Lee just went through the roof.
