How will the Milwaukee Brewers properly honor CC Sabathia?

foamboy1

I was thinking about this even before today. Regardless of the future, folks in Milwaukee will always have immense gratitude and respect for CC.

He pitched a near perfect four months, including leading the league in shutouts and complete games. He led the team into the playoffs, when so many others, both pitchers and hitters faltered. He never complained. He pitched three games in the last nine days of the season. Everyone knows he's only here for a brief period, a "hired gun" of sorts.

Yet, rather than act distant and aloof, ready to move to a new city with a guaranteed $150 to $200 million dollar salary, he's been a "stand up" guy, saying all the right things and seems to have genuinely enjoyed the ride. Without him, Milwaukee is not even close.

The franchise and the fans will always have a love affair with CC because of how this turned out, and how he has performed and acted. How do they honor him for this brief, yet near perfect, four month stint?

Could you retire someone's number with little more than a half season? If anyone deserves it, he does.

I think Sabathia and Zambrano are both headed for this type of career from here on out...

I love what he has done for us but I hope we don't blow our load on a 7 year contract for him. I'd bet even money that 4 years into that 7 year deal we would be regretting it. I think Zambrano is already headed down the path and has seen his best years.

Yeah I would be fine with a 5 year deal too since I think it will take 3-4 years for the innings to make him really lose it. Those big guy types dont' seem to get hurt from the big inning counts, they just wear down faster with age.

Let me suggest Carsten Charles whatever your last name is.
I was thinking Carsten Charles Brewerfan. Last names are becoming so arbitrary anyhow.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though
