did that "Setting The 25-Man Playoff Roster" thread (thankfully) get deleted by the Mods?

So Ben is not going to get a World Series ring with the team then, huh? He'll get a pity ring along with Ueck and Yost, etc?

Man that is going to be awesome.

I need a new signature for the playoffs because mine has been answered.

That link doesn't say he's over with this year. That's just speculation from a reporter. I could easily see him being left off the Division series roster and being activated for the LCS if the Brewers make it and he feels better.
Most of the article is speculation, but I think the quote from Sheets basically says what the chances of him playing are: "That's it. That's all I had. . . . It was all I had. . . for the year."

Ben Sheets was amazing this year.

31 starts. 198.1 innings. 3.09 ERA. 1.15 WHIP.

He may have had some dings - but we don't sniff the playoffs without him. There isn't a pitcher in the NL that wouldn't be happy with those numbers. It is a shame he suffered through so much bad Milwaukee Brewers baseball (while pitching 230 innings!) only to miss our playoffs.

A giant THANKS goes out to Ben this evening.

Well, the comments coming from Sheets and the brewers make it sound rather minor - from a career perspective. Just requires time off apparently.

Obviously there are several million reasons for them to position it as such, but obviously any team offering big dough will want to examine hime, etc., so I suppose thsi is probably all true, but when it comes to injuries, I find the Brewers are just weird.

Sheets underwent another MRI scan on Monday in Milwaukee that revealed further tearing of the flexor mass, a muscle that helps stabilize the elbow. The tear was originally revealed in an MRI in late August or early September, after Sheets first felt pain in an Aug. 26 start against the Cardinals. For a time, he was able to pitch through the injury....

"I'm going to keep pushing like it's series-to-series," Sheets said. "But I don't know if that's realistic...

"We went aggressive at it," Sheets added. "I tried acupuncture, I tried massage. We tried everything. I tried it, and it didn't work."

...That's true, according to Ash, who said Sheets' elbow will heal with time. With Game 1 of the NLDS set for Wednesday, the Brewers just don't have that luxury.

"It's a very easy heal -- it just takes time," Ash said.

"Short-term, it's not good," Sheets said. "Long-term [estimate] would be fine. I was glad it wasn't something that it's short- and long-term. ...

So they knew he was hurt and Yost sent him out for 120 pitches and then 113 pitches(in only 6 innings so they were high stress pitches) and then he wasn't able to finish another start. Is this a smart game plan? I'm so glad Yost is gone.

if it's a short term thing like they're saying, we still absolutely offer him arbitration. worst case scenario is he accepts and we have the same rotation we started the year with. I can live with that.
