The wife was able to snag me a Bag 'O Crap yesterday afternoon!!! I always use the wooters.us tracking site and it was able to open a new buying window and proceeded without any issues before she could hit "I want one" under her account in a different browser.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

I'll sound like a moron for this, but that's fine. What exactly is a "woot off"? I know what woot.com is, with the deal every day. I assume during a woot off that they change items more frequently? How often do they change?

they just put an item up and it stays up until it sells out. Then they move on to the next item. And the next. And the next. Until they decide that it's done.

The main idea behind it, of course, is the "Random Crap" that comes up usually once (but not always--sometimes not at all) per woot off. The "Bag of Crap" as it is called costs $3.00 plus the $5.00 shipping. Everybody pretty much gets the same really crappy items (sweatband, really tacky book bag, etc.) but then everybody also seems to get other really random items thrown into the box. Examples of this might be a cardboard insert and/or instruction manual for another product but not including the actual product, a random mp3 player charging cord, or some piece of electronics that is defective and/or doesn't work at all.

More often than not, you tend to get at least one item that is new and unopened and works just fine and is worth considerably more than the $8.00 that you paid for. I have received 4 mp3 players in my 2 craps that I have ever got, plus a nice tennis bracelet, some musical instruments for kids, and some other stuff that I can't think of right now.

Some people have reportedly had much larger scores than I have. Reports on HDTVs showing up at people's homes, camcorders, and other higher-end stuff have been received. But they are rare. Very rare.

Bottom line is it's worth it. Many, many, MANY people on the site gripe about it when the server crashes etc. during the Random Crap, but it's supposed to be fun. It's more the thrill of the hunt for one that should keep you coming back not push you away like so many people do. The last couple of times a Random Crap has come up, they've had little flash games or something special to make you "work" for your chance to get one. Just the other day (Tuesday, I think) was the woot birthday and a Random Crap was the item. But it was hidden as a "choose your own adventure." If you didn't know it, you'd think the day's item was some Kodak computer printer. But if you looked closely you had to choose different mini-links that would, eventually if done right, get you to the Random Crap. It was fun. It was different. MUCH better than just being lucky that you got on at just the right time.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Woot Off today!!!!!!@@!@!@!!!!@!!
Funny, I never look at woot until someone posts about a woot off, so I just went over there and the item up was the desired bag of crap. I clicked on it and could've had one but decided I don't need any more crap in my house.

Got my Bag of Crap. Would have loved it if I had kids. Got a remote control helicopter (previously opened, instructions were terrible and translated from Japanese but I figured it out and it works), an Ultimotion motion controlled video game for kids (a cheap Wii knockoff), some glow sticks, a 20-pack of Fuji AA batteries that was opened (at least I can use them), a small blue cylindrical duffel bag, and a teal plain t-shirt, size XL (at least I got lucky with that).

So I'll give the kids crap to a co-worker who has a 6-year old boy and I'll be left with some AA batteries and a t-shirt for doing yardwork and painting... when I actually have a yard to do work and a place I own to paint.
