Lose Cubs Lose, Lose Cubs Lose!

Brewer Fever

Lose Cubs Lose will be my daily cry from now until the end of their season. Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later. And I especially hope it rings true these next three days.

Note: This topic edited Friday 9/26 following the Mets/Cubs series where I was forced by gunpoint to pull for the Cubs for four days.

Anyone know if the Cubs are planning on resting players for the last 7 games? I haven't seen anything, but I can't imagine they'll be playing their regulars all week (of course I hope they rest everyone against us).
I'm guessing (and really hoping too) that they will go all out against the Mets and then start resting people this weekend. I just don't see the Cubs relaxing too much this week and risk coming out rusty in the playoffs.

They went with the AAA lineup today but still won. They're still 1 win away from clinching home-field thru the NL playoffs. I imagine they'll have a regular or two missing from the lineup each day. And some days they'll probably field the all backup lineup like they did today. The real issue though is that they'll be limiting their starters innings. Dempster went 5 innings today and left having given up only 1 run after 67 pitches. The Brewers are gonna need the Cubs backups and bullpen to come through vs. the Mets.

Cubs won't play that hard. They know there's a good chance they'll play the Mets in the playoffs and so they won't want to give them too much to look at with such little time between the games and the playoffs.

Plus they'd rather keep the Brewers out of the playoffs so they can play the WC winner in the 1st round instead of a division winner.

I think they'd rather play the Dodgers, who will probably have a worse record than the wildcard team.

I would love it if the Cubs won out.

You want them to sweep the Brewers?

Yes. Also, they would take four games from the Mets as well giving the Mets a one game advantage looking at only the one series (Mets vs. Marlins and Brewers vs. Pirates). This doesnt take into account the other wildcard teams though.

Pretty sure the Cubs would much rather play the Dodgers than us or the Mets

-What exactly are the Cubs going to be hiding from the Mets? This isn't football. They're not going to go with a "vanilla" offense in order to hide their playbook for October.

- I'm pretty sure the Cubs would be just find playing the Brewers or Mets at any time during the playoffs. In fact, I'd bet they would rather play the Brewers/Mets instead of the Phillies/Dodgers.

Never thought this day would come, but happy that it has. I will be rooting for a ... cubs ... victory ... for the next four days. Although this day also signifies that the Brewers are close to the playoffs with a week to play.

I may cheer for the Cubs for a few days, but I will never feel anything less than hatred for that lame song.
Yeah, can we root "against the Mets" (which is how I prefer to look at it) without the song? It would be easier to stomach that way.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

This team disgusts me more and more every day. After this epic collapse, they allow the Cubs, of all teams, to have a large hand in their playoff fate. I still refuse to root for the Cubs. I will not be watching any of the games, but I'll be hoping in vain for a Mets sweep of the Cubs, a Marlins sweep of the Mets, and the Brewers winning out.

Today the Cubs rested almost all of their regulars - no Lee, no Ramirez, no Soto, no Theriot, no Soriano, no DeRosa today. Going forwartd the pitchers are all expected to take their normal turns in the rotation the rest of the season. Obviously they'll be on pitch counts that will be pretty strict. And most of the regulars are expected to be in action the last 4-5 games to tune up for the playoffs. Guess we'll see.
