Photobucket change: "invalid" links no longer supported

I haven't noticed this yet at Brewerfan or LambeauLeap, but as of September 8, Photobucket stopped redirecting improper links to pictures stored on its site. If you're using an incorrect link in your post, you'll see this image:

Improper linking wouldn't apply simply to Yuku; it applies anywhere you might want to post a Photobucket picture.

The upshot is that you should not click on a thumbnail and grab the link from the URL bar. Use one of the links provided below the thumbnail; those will work. Here's a sample thumbnail with the links below it:

My personal preference is to copy the "Direct Link" and use the "ADD FROM URL" button in the Yuku post editor. This offers the ability to actually see your photo in the post editor itself.

Copying the "IMG Code" and inserting it directly into your post works, too. However, you'll have to hit the Preview button to see how the photo looks in your post.

This thread in Photobucket's Forums is a painful read, but it does offer information buried among the whines: Oops! Your image was linked incorrectly, please visit your account ...

Note, too, that members can also to link their Yuku account to a Photobucket account. Doing that offers easy access to your pictures directly from the post editor. (That ability was busted earlier today, but it now appears to be fixed.)

(edit to reflect change in status of Yuku-Photobucket account linking bug --1992)

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
