help with wrigley field

billyhallfan

i've been oogling and cannot find what we did last year, as far as a train goes for getting to wrigley...if i remember correctly, we got the train in skokie, and i think it was the yellow, does anyone have any suggestions, we are going tomorrow, and could use some help, is this the best way?

last year was when cordero blew the save and ramirez hit the walk off

Yeah, take the Yellow to Howard and transfer to the Red line, get off at Addison and voila.

I remember me and a bunch of other current/former Chicagoans got into a great old fart-esque argument about the "best way" to get there but that's a good no frills way to get there.

Have fun, I hope this year's game is better for you and for us.

Yeah, I think we did get into that discussion. I'll throw my two cents in, which is that I prefer to get the purple line in Linden. I think the station is easier to find, in a nicer neighborhood and just a better experience. I find the Skokie route to be dirty, the parking structure to be a bit sketchy and just a less pleasant time all around. People have argued over transfer issues, but I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a train at Linden, FWIW.

Just my opinion, which others disagreed with the last time around. Go with whichever you're most comfortable with.

Oh, and also, there's usually traffic jamming up right around the Linden exit down through the exit to get the Skokie train. We learned that you can get off the freeway at Willow (which is the exit before the Skokie Rd exit MapQuest tells you to take) and get on to Skokie Rd right there. Traffic is usually jammed/slowing down right at the Willow exit, so if you get off there, you avoid the stopping and can head right to the Linden station. I wish I knew the area a bit better, but I can tell you we got off at Willow and took a left at the first major intersection and that took us right to the Skokie Rd exit area and we were able to continue to follow the MapQuest directions from there.

I would also recomend the Purple Line/Red Line. I live two blocks off the last stop on it before Howard and take it all the time to the loop or to Wrigley. My problem with the Yellow Line is that it runs at odd times. I would honastly just drive to Howard and park in the garage (its safe there...dont walk around outside at night if you dont like getting jacked). Its probably quicker and easier than the Yellow Line, alhtough that is easy to find since its just off the Interstate at the Dempster exit.
