5/27/06 Brewers (Bush) @ Phillies (Floyd)

Milwaukee will attempt to go 5-0 over the Phillies tonight behind the arm of Dave Bush. Bush had a rough outing his last start and is currently 3-5 with a 5.06 ERA.

In what could be a slug fest at Citizen's Bank Park, Philadelphia sends the 4-2 Right Hander Gavin Floyd out to the hill after only three days rest this evening. Floyd's ERA is currently 6.07. Philadelphia will see Aaron Rowand return to action this evening, after a two week absence due to a broken nose caused by a collision with the center field wall while making a catch.

When Philadelphis came to get sweeped in Miller Park, they were a few wins better than the Brewers, but are now one win under Milwaukee's total.

Pitching matchup

MIL: RHP Dave Bush (3-5, 5.06 ERA)

He's lost four of his last five decisions.

Player to watch

Chase Utley has an 11-game hitting streak, which ties his career high originally set from May 16-28, 2004. Utley was 1-for-5 in

Friday's game, which left his average at .324

This is one of those games where we SHOULD win.

There's absolutely no reason we can't shell a guy with a 6 ERA who's pitching on 3 days rest.

Bush, I think he will finish out the year strong and next year be a great quality start guy, but right now we could see anything. He's better than his ERA, but he needs to just get it done tonight.

Madsen on the bump tomorrow, that should be wonderful.

Not sure what's up with the ridicule of Bush's physical appearance by staff members but it seems childish. I don't see anything particularly out of the ordinary with his neck anyway.

Dude just chill out, Jamie was just joking around. I'm sure Dave would be greatly offended if he saw someone calling him "giraffe neck" on a message board, cuz you know pro athletes would never give each other worse insults in the locker room. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported this morning that Lieberthal will not be back today or tomorrow; he's on minor league rehab. Rowand will be back tonight, which will push Rollins back to leadoff with Rowand presumably batting seventh. Hamels is also feeling better, but that isn't our problem. Rowand over Victorino doesn't really improve their lineup, but Victorino gives their bench a pulse.

Something to remember is that the Phillies didn't have an off day before this series, and a couple of days ago they played 16 innings against the Mets. They should be a little fatigued by now, and Floyd on three days' rest isn't exactly the world's greatest gamble. Bush has something to prove after his start against the Reds. So there are reasons to be optimistic.

Greg.
