JJ Hardy on Rome today (Sept. 9)

Rome asks if the team is at all concerned? "Ahhhhhh...I don't think so." Would rather struggle now than later. They get over the losses pretty quick. Last year helped a lot to adjust. Definitely will be a lot of fun the last 18 games. They're having fun. Has never seen anything like CC, he's "been a lot of fun to play behind." If CC carries the Brewers to the playoffs he thinks he deserves the Cy--maybe even the MVP (agrees with Rome). Team was angrier than CC about the one-hitter. Said they should've acted like he got it, mobbed him on the mound, give him the beer shower, etc. JJ asked him how he deals with it afterwards and CC says the same thing happened to him in the minors. Says Sheets beating Peavy picked the team up a lot. Hardy says he doesn't dial it up more when the game's on the line but he just gets a lot of opportunities and says when there's success the confidence builds up, which helps the ability. Hardy says his preparation away from the park is done by Sveum in terms of defense, credit goes there. Rome asks about team's confidence in bullpen and Hardy says "Ah, yeeeeah, we still do" and mentions the offense has been bad and they need to pick it up. Thinks that the pen will pick it up and finish strong. Again, would rather stumble now than later.

He did it at the tail end of the show so there wasn't the usual brown-nosing he does. To be fair, it wasn't the greatest but it was pretty good.

 

Let's cross our fingers it translates into some Jungle Karma the rest of the way--Braunie hit a game-winning jack the night after his Rome radio interview this year.

Let's hope the Brewers catch a little "Jungle Karma" tonight. If it doesn't work, the Brewers may have to resort to voodoo dolls.
