Pop up camper help

zingsheim

Hi gang, I'm in the market for a pop up camper but I've never owned one. My wife and 2 1/2 daughter are not thrilled by tent camping which I love, so it's time to move on to a pop up. We're looking for something pretty small, maybe a 8 foot box, maybe 10. Don't want ot to be too heavy so it kills my gas milage. I've been killling Crailslist lately and have looked at a couple in my proce range but come up empty. I'm looking to stay maybe in the 1,000 - 1,500 dollar range, and a far as features go as long as it's in good shape and has a few beds, and doesn't leak I'm in pretty good shape. What brands are good? What should I stay away from? I've got my eye on a Starcraft that a guy is selling locally, but I havn't got around to looking at it yet. Thanks for any help you could give me.

My sister and brother-in-law and three kids have rented a popup each of the past 4 years. I think they got their last one from a place in Lake Mills. It works best for them, as they don't have to store it for the other 51 weeks of the year, and they get a new one every year. Something to consider.

Edited to add that my other sister and her family (husband and 4 kids) have had a Coleman for at least 7 years, and it has held up wonderfully. It still works well, it feels solid and the surfaces have remained durable. They're very happy with their purchase.
