6/11/2006: Cardinals (Suppan) @ Brewers (Bush), 1:05 CT

hawing

Starts out the season horribly and comes through at the end of the year when it's too late and we're too far out of contention to actually make a run at anything noteworthy.

I know. You have to go ALL the way back to 2005 to find the last time Jenkins was hot and helping the team hang around playoff contention.

During the Yost ejection 'conversation', when it looked like Jenkins was also going to be tossed, someone behind us shouted "Eject him! Eject him for a month while you're at it!" I smiled and wondered if it was a bf.net poster.

A hot (or at least warmer) Jenkins bat would certainly help, but in terms of permanent changes to make, I'd rather see the "crap heap" pitchers go. They are little more than fuel on the fire. It's tiresome and depressing to watch G-Whiff continue to golf at ankle high pitches, but that's not what causes the crapfests like Friday night's.

Gord talked about the stats/scouting issue in-depth for about a half-inning and he's been sharing a lot of information about the team's philosophy, the things that different players need to work on, the tendencies of the hitters and pitchers, etc.

It's glorious.

I had fun at the game today (so did the nephew, thanks in part to the home runs), but now I wish I had put a tape in to capture the Gord Ash commentary.

Does anyone have a recording? because this probably won't happen again unless Schroeder has other kids graduating.

And not that anyone here would probably have noticed, but my nephew (with me sitting next to him - we had matching ball/glove logo shirts on) made the Dance Cam toward the end of the game. I thought I was safe in the terrace level.

I can't check now, but FSN usually replays games either late at night or during the next day.

FSN is in fact replaying the game at 12:00 PM tomorrow afternoon. Just in case anyone wants to catch some of Gord's commentary. Though the game wasn't the greatest.

FSN usually replays games either late at night or during the next day.

Indeed, the newspaper TV listings indicate a noon - 3 PM CST rebroadcast on Monday. TV Guide.com says 1-4 PM. Either way, I'll pop in a tape.

Thanks for the tip!

How great of a picture is this? Either Nedly is trying to get a second opinion on a molar cavity, or he is about to slip him the tongue...either way, it made me chuckle...
