I missed it . . how did we score ??

(Got an important phone call just as Weeks was coming up)

Weeks with a great 8 pitch at bat, worked it full, then singled to left to bring in Clark.

Well, PMR uses detailed PBP data. According to that metric, he was pretty averagish.

Yeah, those numbers were interesting but I'd love to see the really high-tech stuff they're doing with cameras and radar guns and stuff that measures the trajectory of the ball, the jump a fielder gets, and his speed tracking the ball. It seems from watching the team every day that Brady is pretty solid at going back on balls in either direction but that he's terrible coming in on balls, something that is amplified by his decision to play so deep.

Stuff I'd like to investigate includes Is he better running down balls from left-handed hitters? Does he get better jumps on balls to his right? Does he cut off groundballs in the gap as often as other fielders?, etc. Scouts have to make judgments on this kind of thing all the time but without a detailed, written record of all of a player's defensive innings it's hard for me to be real confident in their (or my) conclusions. Maybe Brady is actually very good at getting to balls in front of him because he gets great jumps but he just looks bad because he's so slow, for example.

Anyway, I digress.

Shut 'em down, T-Bow!

OMG!! JENKINS SUXS! DFA JENKINS!

Lee grounds out on two pitches. WAY better AB. He's battling.

Lee also came through with a homerun and a sac-fly ...and the score being as it is, I think we would have just lost the game without those two plays.

The point is to criticize Jenkins for the right things. Jenkins had a great year last year and still struck out 138 times. Adam Dunn leads the league in Ks and he's a great player.

Jenkins is obviously struggling but do we need 10 posts about how much he SUXS every time he Ks?
