Bill Schroeder is doing his best to avoid the obvious post-career job for Cirillo: FSN North color commentator. Rillo's gonna take your gig someday, Rock, and he's gonna do an amazing job.

Nice job by Arroyo... he didn't try to hit him, he just sent a message. Hopefully Brady thinks twice next time before he tries to take out a catcher's knees with a dirty slide.

I don't know...I'm not in a rush to push Rock out the door..his analysis has been pretty good this year, and his unbiased criticism of Clark's bonehead plays are fair, I think. I think he's doing a nice job this year...although, after hearing Gord on the other day, it'd be nice to see/hear Gord do a few more games, or at least be a third man in the booth from time to time.

Couldn't agree more, Bill.

I think Daron's right though, Batman. Come inside, throw behind his back, whatever. But don't go for the head, regardless.

I didn't think he threw at Brady's head... if he did, then I agree. It seemed to me like that ball was like ten feet over his head - Arroyo did that instead of hitting him, which I guess if I was batting would be preferable. I'd much rather see a pitcher do what Arroyo did than plunk a player on the elbow or knee. If he really was throwing at his head and just missed, though, then I'd change my tune 180 degrees.

If you have a LOOGY, use him that way. Don't make him pitch to two righties before getting to the lefties. Use Capellan or Kolb, THEN bring in the lefty when Griffey comes up.

The thing that baffles me is that the only two lefties you have coming up (Griffey, Dunn) hit lefties just as well or better than they hit righties. So I just don't understand the logic at all.

Totally. I was looking forward to having a LOOGY and it looked like Yost "got it" right after Shouse was acquired, but since the Phillies series it's been like he forgot how to use his new toy. With eight guys in the bullpen, it's not like he's gotta worry about using too many relievers. For someone who idolizes Tony La Russa and everything Redbirds, Ned sure doesn't seem to grasp the LOOGY/platoon split thing.

Well Yost just shut all of you guys up

Um...no he didn't. I don't really have a problem with Yost brining in Shouse to face lefties, but why did he have to let him start the inning vs. Phillips, who if I'm not mistaken, is still standing on 2b. Now Yost brings in Cappy....
