Tied in the 9th and Yost trots out two hitters who have no chance of hitting a home run and a choker. Sometimes he's more concerned with showing favoritism towards his gritty battlers than trying to win. What are we saving Mike Rivera for, in case this goes to 25 innings and he gets hurt?

 

I don't ever think it's a good idea to put your second catcher in unless it's an emergency.

Why, because that's convention? You play whoever gives you a better shot to win in sudden death. Even if the game continues beyond that point the chances Rivera gets injured are minimal. He's caught 18 games without getting injured to my knowledge. And he wouldn't even have to catch near a complete game, just a few innings. In the minuscule chance he gets injured go with a replacement catcher.

I don't know what Bill was complaining about, Villy took off towards first the second the ball left the bat. That was all on Prince, he got the ball and couldn't decide whether to shovel it over to Villy or take it himself. With Morgan's speed, that split second cost him.
