Creating "pretty charts" using the "code" bbcode or "pre" HTML tag (Yuku issues fixed)

Yuku has fixed issues that previously broke the ability to use the [code][/code] bbcode or the

HTML tag to create "pretty" charts.

Creating a "pretty chart" using using the [code][/code] bbcode:

  1. Set up your chart in a word processor or text editor using a monospace font. Windows Notepad or OS X's Text Edit (in plain text mode) will automatically give you a monospace font.
  2. Paste your chart into Yuku's post editor.
  3. Place [code] before your chart and [/code] after it.
  4. Preview and touch up as necessary.
Example, using bbcode...
[code] Price Cheap Bread $1.50 Designer Bread $3.00 Milk $3.50 Ice Cream $4.50 --------------------- Total $12.50[/code] [/pre]will create

[code] <span> Price Cheap Bread $1.50 Designer Bread $3.00 Milk $3.50 Ice Cream $4.50 --------------------- Total $12.50</span> [/code]

Disclaimer: [b]Do NOT[/b] directly copy and paste from the example above that displays the the [code][/code] tags. It was necessary to "cheat" to get them to display in this message. See details in reply #3.

Creating a "pretty chart" using using the
 HTML tag:

  1. Begin by roughly laying out your chart in the WYSIWYG post editor.
  2. Hit the "html-view" button (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/bf%20yuku/html_view.gif).
  3. Find the contents of your chart. Place
[/i] before the chart, and place [i]
    after it.
  4. Hit the "html-view" button again to switch back to WYSIWYG view.

  5. Adjust and add to your chart as necessary. Because the WYSIWIG editor will display it in a monospace font, you'll probably be able to do this right in Yuku.

Example, using HTML...

 Price

Cheap Bread $1.50

Designer Bread $3.00

Milk $3.50

Ice Cream $4.50

---------------------

Total $12.50

[/pre]will create

[code] Price Cheap Bread $1.50 Designer Bread $3.00 Milk $3.50 Ice Cream $4.50 --------------------- Total $12.50 [/code]

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

My fault. I should have left this disclaimer.

Do NOT directly copy and paste the [ code ] [/ code ] tags from the lead. I had to cheat to make them post. What you see isn't actually what you're copying.

Had I not cheated, the tags would have rendered the text rather than displaying the bbcodes. When you do a regular copy/paste, you're also copying the workaround to make them show up.

You can paste my template into a word processor or text editor, then select/copy/paste again. That'll get rid of the HTML that's hiding in there. If you happen to have the Firefox Extended Copy Menu extension installed, you can choose to copy as plain text.

Or the simplest solution would be to type [ code ] [ / code] yourself (without the spaces), and you should be fine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Note: A disclaimer is now added to the lead.
