Shredder

Menotti80

i dont know im posting this here, but oh well

i grew up hating cats. i am semi-allergic to them, but something about cats bothered me. it was their claws, their sneakiness, and the itchy eyes i would get whenever i was around them. i swore to myself i would always hate cats and would never get one.

well of course my girlfriend brings home a black kitten named shredder a few months ago. i dont know if the cat sensed that i didn't like her or what, but she decided i would be her favorite. i learned to live with this cat and even grow to really care for her. even when she woke me up 5+ times a night to get close to me, i never even get mad.

shredder went in to get spade and declawed yesterday. little did i know it would be the last time i would see shredder. she never made it back home from surgery. we thought she was a healthy cat but it turns out she was born with a hole in her diaphram. she never had a chance to make it through a surgery, and she probably wouldnt have lived for very long anyways.

i dont know why this cat has had this effect on me, but i do know i will miss her a ton. RIP shredder... i will miss you

Sorry to hear about that.

I grew up with cats and love them, but I love dogs as well. I don't think I prefer one to the other. Hopefully your GF can bring you home a new kitten to help your healing http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'll join the chorus; I'm very sorry for your loss. Don't let people downplay it because Shredder was "just a pet."

It'll be five years this December since we lost our first cat to cancer. I'll still tear up about it once in a while.

One of our current cats likes to sleep snuggled up against me in bed - I call him velcro cat at those times - so I know what the closeness and sleep deprivation are like, but I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Wow, sorry to hear about that Menotti. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

This is as good a place as any to share this kind of stuff... glad you could get that off your chest, so to speak. Pets are indeed important.

So sad....so sad.

This past weekend we had our cat outside on a leash and she got all tangled up underneath the neighbors wooden porch. We couldn't pull her out by the rope because it was wrapped around all of the posts. Luckily she ended up in an area where I was just able to fit my arm into and I was able to pull her out. But I was pretty much ready to rip that whole porch apart to get her out. The little guy just pulls on my heart strings.

tough indeed. she fought for her life for over 17 hours after complications arose. dozens of seizures, blindness and multiple cardiac arrests later, the battle was over. they couldn't believe she hung in there so long. so in fact, the name fitted her quite well.

thanks to everyone for their sympathies and stories. i wasn't looking for any consolidation or pity when i posted this, just wanted to get my thoughts out in writing (typing). but all of your words are appreciated.

i do need to stop listening to "hear you me" and "everybody hurts", that should help http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
