Cubs Fans almost ruined Eddie Vedder Show!

brewtown82
So I was at the Eddie Vedder show last night, which was amazing by the way, but a Cubs' fan almost ruined it. He kept shouting out "Lukin!" between every song, and every time Eddie had a funny little story to tell he'd scream some more. Eddie just stopped talking then and played the song. He got really angry about it towards the end of the set. It was embarrassing. Then, to add insult to injury, he yelled out "what's the Cubs' score" between songs. The ushers should have found him and threw him out. It almost ruined what was one of my favorite shows ever. Just shows that Cubs' fans suck even worse than we'd imagined. And they all wore their Cubs' gear to the show! Would you drive to Chicago for a concert and wear your Brewers/Packers' gear? Man, I hate Cubs' fans.

Reminds me of a Cubs fan I saw at State Fair. Everyone was having fun in the Kiddie Midway on one of the fun houses. Along the front are hanging bags, like punching bags that kids have to walk through. A Cubs fan was reaching over the fence and holding them out of the way for his kid. Now there are lots of kids there, so the ride operator nicely asks him to step back from the fence. The Cubs fan reponse? "Bleep you, bleep bleep. I'm just helping my kid."

The ride operator was just doing his job and there are dozens of small kids within earshot, including mine. I was pissed. I can't imagine going through life with such a miserable disposition.

I was also at the show. After a while, Eddie had been getting tired of the 'Pirates of Silence' and had to yell STFU to the whole audience. Even after that, when he made reference to Chicago a bunch of idiots started yelling 'Cubbies' and 'Chi-Town'. I seriously felt like the audience was breathing in some sort of de-evolution gas and I was someone immune to it. One guy kept yelling 'Lukin' and eventually had to be escorted out. Eddie had Lukin on his playlist and removed it.

Oh well, the setlist was still awesome.

Arc was one of the finest things I've ever seen in concert.

It's all over the internet about how awful the Milwaukee fans were to Eddie last night... makes me wonder what's happening to my beloved city... boo birds at Miller Park, drunken hooligans who can't get through a concert without acting out...

Sounds like it wasn't just the cubs fans, by the report...

I can tell you first-hand that this was not even a 60% Milwaukee crowd. I'm not sure what caused it, maybe the ticket price, but it was a very strange crowd for an Eddie show. Loud, entitled, and generally boorish.

And really, does everyone in the audience need to check their cell phones every 15 seconds. That stupid LCD light was distracting. Between that, and half of the audience exchanging spots in the bathroom between every two songs it was the antsiest crowd I've seen for a low-key show.

I was also at the show. It was incredible, a very cool and rare experience. But the people that felt the need to yell between every song were just dumb. I'm glad Eddie told them where to stick it. And of course, someone yelled "Freebird"! Highlights of the show for me where the sing along during "Elderly Women", "Porch" and "Society".

Where on the internet? I'd like to see some of the comments. It sucks though, because now we'll never see Eddie, (or PJ) near Milwaukee ever again in an intimate environment like the Riverside.

This story was on 102.1 yesterday morning: The guys who were thrown out for heckling Eddie Vedder were detained by the Riverside Theatre security because they tried to damage a door (kick it in) on the way out. Their IDs showed they were from a suburb of Chicago. They didn't stick around long enough to get arrested for a DD.

The amount of handwringing over this show is unbelievable. Yah, there were some morons in the crowd, but it didn't really ruin the show for me. I thought the show lost a ton of momentum after the encore break, but that had more to do with political speaches.

I thought it was a great show. Sometimes was a great opener. Man of the Hour is a good song and i really enjoyed the cover of Millworker. I was also impressed with Liam Finn. He walked passed me after the show and appeared to be about 5 feet tall.

In terms of people concerned that PJ will never come back to Milwaukee, I don't think that is a very valid worry. I have it on pretty good sources that the band loves Alpine. I don't think something that might have happenbed at an Eddie solo show would stop them from playing Alpine.

Plus, in regards to the message board linked above, that place is insane. People are so over dramatic there. I am a member of the fan club and check that thing when concert tickets go on sale. People blow everything out of proportion there. I would take what you read with a grain of salt.

Absolutely it's over the top, should have warned about that. I'm not lucky enough to be going to any of these solo shows so I've been following along online. I'm sure that makes it seem worse than it really was.
