6/26/2006 Brewers (Capuano) @Cubs (Maddux) 7:20pm CDT

You know, this is probably a non-issue today, but for someone that we supposedly traded for because of his good veteran defense, doesn't it seem like Koskie's defense hasn't really been very good at all this year?

Did it actually look "DL" bad

IMO No. It was a semi-solid line drive that looked like it caught him right on the front of the forearm just below the elbow, so knock on wood that there's plenty of meat there to absorb it.

I stand on Ned's side allowing Cappy to try and go the distance. That's part of baseball. Anyone who has played the game as a pitcher would know what that's like. You appreciate things like that.

If these weren't people out there, and instead robots with the endurance of humans, then you pull him after you go up by 6.

Jim Powell just said the he saw Cappy put something in his pocket with his left hand as he left, speculating that it may not be a serious injury if he was able to do that.

It was impossible to tell how serious by Cappy's reaction. He barely flinched and even started running to 1st base to get the toss from Prince, but there was no play. He grimaced a little bit at the mound afterwards, but it didn't appear that he was favoring it much - he really didn't seem very fazed. But who knows.

Yes, I agree. However, when he gave up that lead-off hit he should have been pulled. No iffs, ands or buts. Any non-Dusty Baker manager should have realized that. Poor decision by Yost.

Koskie has been great at defense this year.

He has some great reflexes over there on the hot corner. The only thing that has been somewhat lacking are his throws. Usually good, but in some situations he will bounce them.

With that said, a guy who has played first for a long time would scoop most of those bad throws.

I would have kept him in too. That is part of the game. Hard to think that a guy might get hurt so you don't let him go when he is crusing.

I thought the ball hit the ground 1st. If so, that would have slowed it down.

Didn't seem like he reacted in a way that he was really hurting, FWIT.

Amen. I totally agree that anyone who has played the game knows that you don't take a guy out there when he's earned to pitch into the 9th. Psychologically, pitchers wouldn't be the same if they knew that hands down, everytime, they would always be yanked at 100, 105, 108 pitches. These guys are not robots.

I don't think so, but he did take a solid comebacker off his pitching arm, which you never like to see. Looks like it got him just below the elbow on the forearm. Judging by where Caplinger was inspecting his arm before they removed him.

If it bruises it may hinder him a little but not for long. He'll be fine. The only way he's going on the DL or even missing a start is if something in his arm is broken or fractured... and i seriously doubt that's what happened.

To me it looked kinda serious, cause right after he got hit, he kinda walked right towards the dugout. But hopefuly will no more later tonight. Who knows how serious it is, but he did grimace, and it was his left elbow, or his pitchin elbow.

For what it's worth, according to JSOnline it was his right arm.

LOL. Nice work by the JS staff.

I just can't see how someone could get hit in their pitching arm with a line drive hit about 70mph and not miss any time. Not trying to be pessemistic just that I highly doubt he'll start against the Twins.

I would like to believe that, But from what I saw on TV, it was his left. Plus, Caplinger was inspecting his left arm before they removed him.

I think JSonline is probably mistaken.
