Sure seems like Prince has had an awfully rough June. Might it be that he has gotten away from pure hitting and trying to be more of the big slugger that everyone expected him to be? Him picking up some additional HR's have been nice, but I wish he'd go back to what he was doing.

Maddux is the last pitcher you want to see when you have a runner at third with less than two outs. He almost always gets hitters to chase something out of the zone.

He also gets strikes out of the zone. I logged on late to see that he got Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall on successive (called) strike-outs. Funny that.

Hitters have to chase balls out of the zone because Maddux's strike zone extends a few extra inches on the bottom half.

I'm going to feel awfully stupid if I jinx Cappy here and he gives up 4 next inning, but does anyone know offhand what the record is for quality starts in a season? I imagine they haven't always kept track of that and I don't know if it is even a real "stat", but I'm just curious.

EDIT: Then he, of all people, walks the pitcher. Maybe I DID jinx him.
