Is Bonds an option?

I would take a gamble on signing Bonds and then bench Cameron and move Hart to center. A lefthanded bat that has a history of great on-base percentage. You then can sub Cameron for defensive purposes late in games and spell Braun and Hart from time to time. I think it is better than standing pat.

It depends entirely on how much the Brewers value team chemistry. I think the Brewers think they have a great clubhouse, and wouldn't want the inherent distractions that Bonds would bring. It would take the focus away from the group of guys that have been playing as a team all season. If Braun were out for a long period of time, Bonds would certainly help, but I give the Brewers a 1% chance of even breaking out the Rolodex to think about dialing Bonds' agent.

i thought his agent said he'd sign for the minimum. if it were just about the money, some team would have eventually given in, because some team always does.

i actually think he'd be generally bearable on any team. he was a jerk when he had all the power, when he was the hero. now he's a dog without even a bark. he knows that if he were signed, if he even made a peep he'd be off the team in a heartbeat.

NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! I'd rather have no one out in left field before I'd want Bonds out there. Bonds is a piece of garbage. Besides, Kapler is a serviceable replacement for the time being. It's not like Braun is done for the year.

Gagne, Turnbow, Cameron.... all have been mentioned or suspended for PEDs.

Bonds would be a bad signing. He's a complete cancer to clubhouses. Even if he wasnt.. i think it sends a bad message to young people.

It was reported that he would sign for the minimum and that even the money he does make would be donated back to a local charity that would bring kids to games (IIRC).

At this point, he could be a better overall option than what Hart has been providing lately, but I don't think the team wants to bring Bonds into this clubhouse.

I think it would be wise for the Brewers to sign Barry, a true batting professional who could DH for us if we made the World Series. I also think the young players would benefit from such a positive batting role model (as an athlete, of course). A .480 OBS his last season for the minimum? I am aghast that he remains unsigned.
