Now using Mota might be good because that means he wouldn't go tomorrow....

I like the way you're thinking.

It appears the Brewers have a great shot to be 5 games ahead in the loss column for the wild card by night's end. I like being the chasers and not the frontrunners for the division title, less pressure in that role. Even if we don't catch the Cubs we can gain the wild card by catching their draft.

Once again, if you read this IGT without knowing the score, you would have no idea the Brewers were well on their way to a four-game series sweep.

yeah lately we've been doing a good impression of nsbb...although not quite as extreme

But you'd think Counsell went 0 for 20, made 7 errors and took a machete to the Polish Sausage!
Don't forget how he has compromising pictures of Yost and is hiding his coffee. I can't get enough of those jokes!

this is true. great day to be a fan. TCB.

I don't think anyone would create a "Games that didn't get away" thread or something similar. It would be very easy to say - hypothetically - that people would look back, after - again, hypothetically - missing the playoffs, at this series had we split it and assigned a disproportionate amount of blame.

I'm proud of the boys for stepping on the throats of the weakling, not playing down to their competition (errors notwithstanding) and keeping the eye of the tiger!

Let's not forget that in four games our starters gave us 2 ERs in 31.1 innings. And only on reliever game up an ER.

I give them credit, that site is hilarious and fun to read. You don't have people pooping on the funny bone all the time with the literal wag of the finger. Let me try... Craig Counsell sucks, get over it. Ahhhh. Or... the Nationals aren't that bad, only the worst team in baseball this year and only 30 games under .500. The Tigers were at least 187 games under .500 four years ago. They arent that bad. Peace!

All right, so who has some fun stats from this series?

ERA was 1.125. (5 ER - 40 IP)

Take out Gagne's one inning and it falls to 0.46. (2 ER - 39 IP)

Amazing.

Yes, it was only a depleted Washington team, but that's still amazing.

Don't tell that to the Rockies. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I have a friend, an awsome old-timer whose father made him leave Larsen's perfect game in the 7th to miss the traffic and who wrote the definitive profile of Willie Mays for the Washington Post (he ended it with a devastating anecdote about Mays, as casino greeter, getting a early morning freebie on the Boardwalk "Of course I get free waffles. I'm Willie Mays."), who has since retired and is a Nats season ticket holder. Has forgotten more about baseball than I can remember about my childhood. Or something. Anyway, he's a big fan of the Brewers and I've been in touch with him through this series. The Nats have played a lot better, but, quoth Bart, "The Brewers are a big league team. I like their chances." So that made my day....

On Miller Park day games (this isn't the only criticism I can recall, though first "testimonial" by an umpire):

"It was kind of hard to see the ball here," catcher Wil Nieves said. The Brewers "are used to it, but this was the first time I've played here in a day game. At night, you can see better. But day games? The umpire was telling me this was the worst place for day games, just because of the shadows. But, it was just a little bit hard. Their pitcher today, he was throwing fastballs right by us, and they were, like, 85 or 86" mph.

I'll take that homefield advantage... and schedule Soup for any day game on the schedule.
