Anyone else think that it was really strange for Mock to pitch that inning on Friday night? I understand that it was his day to throw on the side, but to put a starter in for an inning against a team that he starts against in 3 days seemed awfully strange to me. It's the kind of thing that conspiracy theorists would have a field day with if this was during the last few weeks of the season.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

I am still confused with why Mock pitched Friday night when he was going to pitch Monday. It just seems weird to me, since it was not like the game was close or the game was going to go into extra innings.

The Nationals played a double header in Colorado the night before the game Friday night, so they were probably low on relief pitchers. I would guess that it was Mock's day to throw in the bullpen, anyway, so they used him in the game for an inning. Ned's done that a few times with Bush, so it's not that uncommon.

Lineups from TH:

1B Prince Fielder

RHP Dave Bush

LF Willie Harris

SS Pete Orr

3B Ryan Zimmerman

RF Austin Kearns

CF Lastings Milledge

2B Ronnie Belliard

1B Kory Casto

C Wil Nieves

RHP Garrett Mock

Rivera should be getting two starts a week from here on out. I have no preference between Weeks and Durham because they both scare me defensively, can draw walks and get a MINI hot streak going. However, this Counsell at 3rd base in that spot in the batting order has got to end. The other night when I was at the game they had Branyan in and it was a productive day. Why not put Branyan in left? It just makes absolutely no sense to me..

Who cares what the lineup is if they keep winning? They've won 5 straight, so whatever is happening right now is working.

Because they have won 5 straight there isn't alot to complain about so we have to make up controversy.

I have to think this Counsell deal is due to defense. That's all I can figure. And batting him 6th or 7th, what does it really matter. Cameron seems to be comfortable in the 7 spot, so might as well leave him there.

And Weeks, well he's been pretty decent since the break, (62 ABs, .290 / .400 / .852).

The fact that Counsell is in the game reduces the likelihood that the W shows up in the win/loss column. If Scott Skiles would start Mo Williams instead of Bogut at center, people would think he's crazy. Yost is doing the same thing with Counsell.

yeah, the Counsell complaints are a bit of a stretch. First fo all, e didn't start either of the last two games. They are 6-2 in the stretch he has been playing, and in teh two they lost, he was about the only guy who did anything. Its not as if he is playing him in favor of Braun or Fielder. How much are Bill Hall's and Russel Branyan's bats really going to be missed in the lineup?

I think that's a pretty far fetched comparison... Like Jhart said, you can argue the above points he made, no need to re-type them.

Saw a blurb somewhere the other day that Rickie is hitting approx. .315 since the Durham acquisition.
