Edit: How about that? Gamel gets the night off yesterday and hits a homer in his first at bat today. Cain also doing very well in Huntsville with a homer today.

Fryer goes deep in the 4th..Power up 15-1 thru 4...Bowman 1 run on 3 hits thru 4...not just the offense tonite...man it's a nice nite here at Appalachian Power park...temp in the low 70's which is real odd here for August

Pedro Lambertus with 3 strong innings...hit 94 on the stadium gun which is usually 4-5 mph slow...not bad for a guy that turned 20 in June!

Fryer and Wilson both got on base five out of six times.

Fryer really needs to be promoted. He's 22 in A ball - I think they need to figure out what they have with him in sooner than later.

The problem is that Fryer probably has to play catcher to be valuable, and he's got Lucroy and Salome right above him.

I wish we had that problem at every spot.

Fryer has nowhere to go... he's following two top 10 prospects in Lucroy and Salome. If Lucroy is the guy in the Cleveland trade, move Fryer up, but if not... Eric just has to bide his time.

 

Speaking of the Cleveland trade, can we just find out who that guy is? I'm sick of following Green, Lucroy, Brantley and Cain and wondering "which one?".

They could, but he's not a very good outfielder, and he has a lot more value catching 4-5 times a week.

Speaking of somebody who is blocked, how about Steffan Wilson at 3rd base? Just dominating low A ball at 22 years old. He should at least be in BC, but Taylor Green is blocking him.

As Al said, it's a wonderful problem to have at any position. The Brewers are blessed with depth at a number of positions. They're not a top 5 club anymore, but they'll be pretty close again soon with all the young pitching and position player depth if they don't haul off and trade a bunch more guys. BA's ranking of the system before the season (#21) was indeed a head scratcher.
