Question about playoff match-ups

Quick question:

I am aware that the Wild Card team is paired against the top team in the league, and if the two teams are from the same division they don't play each other in the first round.

But, if the Wild Card team has the second best record in the league, does it get to home-field advantage in the first round? I know it works this way in the NBA - home advantage is determined by record. Does this hold true in the MLB, too? Or does the Wild Card team automatically start on the road?

Thanks in advance!

The NBA just changed that rule this last season so it would be based on record and not seeding. The MLB is just like the NFL if you have the #1 seed you play the #4 seed if they are not from your division if the #4 seed is in the same division then the #1 team plays #3 and the #2 team plays the #4 team. Record doesn't matter with the seedings 1, 2, and 3 are reserved for the division winners. The #1 and #2 teams get home field advantage.
