Lets get CV to pitch 5 innings or so

Am I missing something? The brewers are tied. Plus, isn't this usually when Soup settles in to retire 12 of the next 13 or something?

I hope you are right but so far he has absolutely nothing.

So to summarize one set of stats, if the Brewers are 8th in Runs scored in the NL, yet 10th in OBP & 12th in BA...those are close enough to our ranking in BA with RISP that it's not materially different. The Brewers have a low BA & OBP so it shouldn't be any different with RISP.

Maybe a better question to ask is what does it take for the Brewers to rank higher than 8th in Runs scored. Is it we're underperforming, our players are just mediocre or we're too heavily tilted to SLG vs. OBP to maximize run production? No answer here, just trying to frame a better debate than RISP. Not sure if the in-game thread is the right place, but I'll throw it out there.

I'm not quite sure how you figure 8, 10, and 12 are close to 16. In response to maximizing run production, bumping up our production w/ RISP would certainly help. Less K's (putting the ball in play more, therefor moving runners over, getting sacrifices, etc) would help. We are batting a dismal .189 w/ the bases chucked. There are many ways in which this team leaves runs on the table. We saw it throughout the Cardinals series and the Cubs series. Hopefully the figure this out.

When I'm trying to measure a team's ability to manufacture runs, I use this stat called "runs scored". It's unproven but you'll find it does a better job of measuring the total skill of an offense better than BA w/RISP.

What BA w/RISP does correlate well with is "FDF (fans disappointment factor). When the bases are loaded with 2 out, we have certain expectations. When a guy pops a 2 run HR with a runner at first, it's a pleasnt surprise.

quick question: why on earth is Counsell playing every darned game? We get it. He's a good fielder. Meanwhile he has an OPS of .651 while Branyan is rotting on the bench with a .921 OPS. It'd be nice if Ned could use his brain just once in a while.

Yost overheard Branyan saying NASCAR is for undereducated redneck hillbillies.

There is somethign to be said about all of that. I think total men left on base would probably be a better way of expressing what I am thinking of. Know anywhere to look this up? (I didn't see it on ESPN).

I really like Cirillo in the booth. I remember thinking the same thing when he had that wrist injury a few years back and spent a couple innings up in the booth. I haven't gotten a chance to see him in his Brewers Live role, but I really enjoy his baseball insight more than Rock's.
