I sort of feel like Homer Bailey was called up too fast. Like he could have used a full season in AAA or something. He basically has a season worth of starts at a AA/AAA level combined and it seems like they just wanted to get him going at MLB and he has regressed because of it.

I think he's going to be a very good pitcher one day. He has the raw tools. But he seems more lost than anything and unable to consistently compete at this level. He isn't ready emotionally or something. The Reds have botched this one good, IMO. And now, can they really go back and give him that extra AA/AAA season?

I think you might be right bannana. But I'm curious if Homer isn't a lot like Ben Hendrickson. A top organizational prospect who just couldn't make that final jump from AAA to MLB?

11:30 start? That's 10:30 my time out here in Colorado. Brunch game. Jason Kendall has to get the day off right??? Not only is it a day after a night game but the Crew is off on Thursday and Ned usually gives Kendall days off when its followed by an off day?

How about a Russell Branyan start? As weird as it is to say Counsell could probably use a day off? He's not a spring chicken anymore.

I'm guessing that kendall gets the day off and that one guy who is sitting on the bench gets to play. I can't seem to remember his name since I haven't seen him play in what seems like a month. I heard that he still does have an issued uni though.

I'd like to see Counsell sit - I'm not convinced "his approach" is making a difference - but I don't have a problem with the rest of the lineup. Kendall didn't look tired last night and he'll get a day of tomorrow. Of course, I also don't quite have the 3TO man crush that others have around here.

That line-up makes little sense? Two questions....Why does Ned hate Russ and Mike? When did Craiggers become an everyday player?

Maybe we can convince Damian Miller to get in shape and come out of retirement when Kendall collapses? At least, he's familiar with 4/5 of the rotation? I bet Simba can still hit and call a good game....lets make him player/coach. Seriously, though, I know we have some off-days coming up but goodness this is crazy.

A win and the Brewers have a 4-2 road trip - 3 weeks ago I think we'd all be ecstatic with a winning roady, no matter who the Brewers played.

gotta get back to winning at home, especially with the possibility of picking up ground on either the Cubs or Cards this weekend, since they play each other.

Only thing I wonder about is the health of the players. Getting JJ two days off may not be the worst thing if they are concerned about his shoulder. Much of his early season struggles seemed to have been related to that shoulder. After he shut it down for some (4?) games, he really heated up quick. After struggling recently, making sure that shoulder isn't the reason may be a prudent move. Pure speculation here.

I wonder if Hardy's shoulder is still bothering him and Yost is trying to keep him fresh. If not, there's no reason to sit Hardy as he had two hits last night and Counsell had none. Plus, JJ is better defensively. As for Kendall, the only explanation is that he is holding one of Ned's children hostage and Rivera is chained to the clubhouse water heater.

^^^^You beat me to it SoCal.

If Counsell is going to play for someone, JJ is probably the best choice considering that other than two hits yesterday he's been pretty abysmal lately.

As opposed to Rickie Weeks, who has been pretty abysmal all season.
