Arizona and Hawaii Fall Leagues -- Latest: Official Hawaii List, AFL Updates

I would assume the Brewers decided this in late July, as they had to move Jeffress around, and could have moved others. As 39 hints, as of today, Brantley is the Crew's. They can't just ignore 2 or 4 players who may be on a list.

I would love to see Lawrie go to Hawaii myself.

Agent 39, you saying that the decision has already been made as to who the 7 are by the powers that be? If so, when will this be announced so the rest of us will know?

Yes, its done, I cant comment on guys I dont represent but Brantley and Aguilar are going to the Arizona Fall League. I havent heard anything on Hawaii yet however.

By the way, we believe Michael Brantley would replace Mat Gamel on the roster if Mat was in Milwaukee (first AFL game is October 7th).

And yes, I did check Cleveland's list -- no "To Be Detrermined".

Not seeing Brantley's name (or Taylor Green's) sure adds to the speculation, though, doesn't it?

So, why isn't Mike on the list? Your info you have given make it seem like he's the PTBNL, and CLE does not want to announce it yet.
I dont even see how thats possible. Cle has nothing to do with the Brewers afl selections. Mikes going for the brewers and I have already shipped his equipment to AZ.

From BA's AFL roster page...

X-Factor: The Brewers promoted hard-throwing righthander Jeremy Jeffress to Double-A specifically because they wanted to send him to the Arizona Fall League. He's responded by going 2-0, 1.93 in three starts with Huntsville. No starting pitcher in the minors throws harder than Jeffress, who's been clocked at 100-102 mph this year depending on which radar gun you're reading.

Again, this scenario makes the most sense to me, as I don't think the Brewers bumped Gamel up to AAA just to get his feet wet in preparation for '09. He'll be in Milwaukee by early next week, and Brantley will take his place in the AFL.

I wasn't trying to suggest that Brantley is a "replacement" like Cain is just offering a possible reason as to why his name isn't listed on the roster at this point in time. If it is simply an error, than so be it, but I wouldn't doubt if it is due to a paperwork formality.

We had a thread going earlier, but it died out.

Any thoughts on whon the player's may be?

Mike

Threads never die! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Just give the thread a bump.

No new word on Hawaii, the AFL list came out, as noted a few posts prior. The whole Gamel / Brantley situation has to work itself out, but it will soon enough.

I don't think anyone needs to be replaced for Brantley to come to Arizona. On the rosters I have, there's a "TBA MIL" at the bottom, under outfielders.

Brae Wright is a taxi squad guy for us, only activated on Wednesdays and Saturdays. 6 other teams (Cincinnati, Cleveland, San Diego, St.Louis, Philadelphia, and Houston) have 8 guys on the roster with one being a taxi guy, and the Dodgers have 9, with 2 taxi guys.

I guess Brantley's our TBA - when can I officially announce it on my website? :-)

Ken Spindler and the Brewers' media relations department have announced that the following players will be the Brewers' representatives in the Hawaiian Fall League:

West Oahu CaneFires:

OF Caleb Gindl

OF Logan Schafer

LHP Chris Cody

LHP Mike Ramlow and

Manager Mike Guerrero (from Brevard County).

Also, an updated Arizona Fall League list looks like this:

Peoria Javelinas:

3B Mat Gamel

C Angel Salome

C Lou Palmisano (taxi squad)

RHP Omar Aguilar

RHP Jeremy Jeffress

RHP Alex Periard

LHP David Welch and

LHP Brae Wright (taxi squad).

Trainer Tommy Craig (Brevard County) will also join the Peoria team.

Of course, agent 39 has shipped Michael Brantley's equipment to Arizona, but that doesn't mean he'll be representing the Brewers.

That's still only 6 regular guys and 2 taxi guys. Teams are required to send 7 guys, taxi guys don't count against that.

If Brantley is so hard to believe, then who else would you like to see go?

It's not a matter of believing it or not believing it. We've seen about three or four so-called "official" lists now, haven't we? And not one has had Michael Brantley's name on it. So we're just having some fun with the silly semantics the Brewers and Indians have gotten themselves into.

Despite all the "fun" discussing Brantley's soon to be winter whereabouts, it appears that adding two OF's to Hawaii means the Indians will take Brantley or Cain. The Brewers know that and added Logan Schafer with the much deserving Caleb Gindl to the OF.

Schafer has taken over the CF spot in WV with ease in his first year and is probably being sent to Hawaii to improve whatever hitting deficiecies the Brewers see. You have to Believe Gindl and Schafer are in their future plans.

Mike has some personal matters to take care of (not serious) and has been officially pulled out of the AFL. Nothing to do with the trade I promise, and yes I did infact ship his stuff to arizona so ill have fun getting it sent back.
