Why does Poison make people insane?

Nader Raider Tim

I am sorry but I need to share this crazy, crazy night at a Poison concert in Greenville. Let me preface this by saying I am not a big Poison fan but I do like some songs and I thought it would be a fun enough time.

Poison started setting up and the craziness began. Up near the stage where we were a guy squeezing past drops his beer and proceeds to attempt to fight 5 girls my brother and I step in and force him on his way before the situation escaltes but he is doing throat slitting gestures to the girls when he gets by his friends. So we stay by them to make sure he behaves, and he does for a while. He comes back through and grabs my brothers, uhm male parts, and squeezes. So there I turn around to my brother and that guy face to face heading out to fight with a girls arm in between trying to break them up but really is just getting dragged along. We get them split up and the instigator is on his way. That part of the chaos is done.

Then when Poison is playing a couple girls in front of us get up on their boyfriends shoulders and out of nowhere a girl comes up and just pulls on the back of the other girls jeans toppling them. Me and another guy keep them seperated until things calm down.

Then a girl comes and runs and squeezes through and the next thing I know there is a girl being spun around by her hair. Then a couple more girls jump in, again me and another guy break them up and and keep this batch seperated.

The night at the show was hilarious. I was fully expecting to get into a fight caused by crazy girls.

Oh and as an awesome end to an awesome night I drop my brother off at his house and head home. At a stop light a guy in the car next to me get's my attention and I roll my window down, he proceeds to ask me if "I am looking to get any tail tonight, he knows some fun "party girls". Yeah does that really even happen in real life. Especially in Appleton, WI.

Did the gentleman in the car go by the name of "Turd" or "Richard Adventure"? About 10 years ago or so, C.C. DeVille walked into the Concert Cafe in Green Bay after some punk show. Poison had been playing in town that night and he was asking us where the strip clubs were. It was funny to meet a childhood hero that way. When in was like 8 or 9, I had a pet rabbit that I named C.C. after him because I was totally into Poison at the time.

I was going to see Poison in Madison last month, but tickets were almost $50 and I've seen them enough to know their show. They're a great live band and have it down and after touring almost non-stop for some time now.

I don't know about the crowd acting like that, I'd assume it was a general admission show and then you've got everybody trying to get the best spots. I'd bet a crazy girl fight could've been rather entertaining.

A fine stereotype, but not entirely true, Ry.

Well, most poisons contain chemicals that harm the brain, therefore making them insane. OH! You mean the BAND Poison. I got nothing for you. Every Rose has its thorn was one of my favorite songs in 3rd grade, although I didn't know what exactly it meant.

I was quite interested in Rocklahoma and would've loved to be there. But that's just the white trash in me. I really need to become a hipster and break free from the white trash crowd.

I base all my music listening decisions on the fanbase of the band/artist. You see, I am not very secure with myself so I don't want to be associated with particular social groups that typically listen to certain bands.

Don't you have to be insane to go and watch Poison in the first place?

Just joking people...relax. I'm sure my wife would love to go see Poison. She likes that kind of music..and, yes, she's insane.

You don't have to be insane. But, you have to realize (like I do) that there will always be the people who put it down for everything that's not about the music (hair, makeup, clothes). Granted, there are those who put it down for the music too. I like that genre of music and to this day support it as I can.

I can see where some like to slag on the genre, as it's not "in" or "trendy" these days. I read most of the music threads here (Lollpalooza, for example) and wonder "what's wrong with these people"? Music is so personal that no one should ever criticize someone else's listening preferences, you know? I just stay out of their threads and let them discuss what they like.

Note, I'm not singling anyone out here, I just wanted to make a comment.

Someone can like bands that are at Lollapalooza (though I agree that some of them are crap (esp. Kanye West)) and also unironically enjoy some 80s bands. I like the cover album Poison put out last year, it's pretty fun to listen to. I'd never heard of Rocklahoma and looking at the lineup, it doesn't seem that great, but it's nice for some of those guys to be able to make a little money.

There are only a few artists that I consider so offensive that I then think less of someone for liking them (Pat Boone, Michael Bolton, the Eagles, Lauryn Hill, a couple others that I can't recall right now). That's a joke, I don't really think less of someone but I will make fun of their taste in music.

I celebrate Michael Bolton's entire collection.
