102 pitches through 8. Brennaman seems to think that Sabathia will be back out there. I think it'd be lunacy to make him throw any more in 90+ degree heat.

With that said, Ned'll probably throw him out there to start the 9th again. Ugh.

why wouldn't he, i dont' care if his arm falls off after this season, if he doesn't want to sign with us thats fine, we gave up laporta so we could have him for this year. you give up one of the top prospects in the game for a pitcher, you better milk that guy for all its worth.

"If he (Torres) can't hold a three run lead, then you've got a problem."

I hope that isn't a jinxing statement, lol. I have faith Torres can get the job done. I'd just hope Ned doesn't try to get cute and get Gagne or someone else some work.

1 more inning would be flat out abuse, you realize his arm could fall off while he's employed by the Brewers, right? I could see if we had a 1-run lead, but 3 runs is comfortable enough to deploy our solid closer Torres.

I think more people should read some of Joe Sheehan recent musings about how badly things have swung to far towards under using veteran pitchers. His take home message if they are over 25 don't sweat anything under 120, and 120-130 on rare occasions is not the end of the world. In that context we have not been anywhere close to abusing CC. On some level he's kind of worked himself into that Greg Maddux zone where you can't work the count because you'll get down 0-2, and if you swing too early he can rack up innings with very small pitch counts.

Just a further note on abuse Sheehan points out that back in the early 90's and before 130+ starts were common and 140+ starts weren't all that rare just ask Cal eldred.

While I agree that the Brewers certainly have every right to get everything out of Sabathia that they can, they also run the risk of wearing down Sabathia to the point where he's ineffective in September and October. He threw 241 innings for Cleveland in the regular season last year, and was completely ineffective in the playoffs. If the Brewers make the playoffs for the first time in 26 years, I'd prefer that their pitchers haven't logged so many innings that they're useless in October.

I have no problem with keeping him in there for a close game, but a 4-1 lead in the 9th inning against this Braves team is pretty safe. Bring in Torres for some work and let CC rest his arm with a lighter workload.

Well it is not like we are are talking Sheets and Harden here.. I am in the camp to pitch him 9 every start and let the Yankees worry about next year's affects.. Plus he doesn't throw a slider so his pitches put a lot less stress on his arm then say Sheets curve.
