Milwaukee Brewers

Dave Bush' splits

Bush has pitched well in his past four starts, compiling a 2.57 ERA (28 innings pitched, eight earned runs) over that span. He only has a 1-0 record with three no-decisions, but the team has won three of four games when he has pitched. (MLB.com)

vs.

Chicago Cubs

Carlos Marmol - (1-3, 4.73 ERA)

Carlos Marmol's splits

Marmol's first pitch in his last start landed in the Crawford Boxes in left at Minute Maid Park, courtesy of Craig Biggio. The rookie right-hander gave up four runs over 4 1/3 innings in that start, but also walked seven. He's got to cut down on that. Marmol has the stuff. He's young and the Cubs are going through growing pains. (MLB.com)

While I'm not going to go as far as to say this is a "must win game", this is the kind of game the Brewers really should win, and have to win if they are going to be a contender versus a pretender. I didn't expect a win last night in the Jackson-Zambrano matchup, but I expect one here today.

NDOG, I agree. Also, they have Prior going tommorrow. He's struggled so far this season, but his last start wasn't bad. We need to take at least two from the Cubs, and today should be our best chance to get our second.

Why do we need to showcase Clark? Why is it bad to have a guy like him on the bench? Last time i checked his OBP was pretty good and he has good at bats when we need them.. When there is a tough lefty he can spell Gross, and if Gross starts doing real bad, give Clark a shot again. We need these types of players.. no one is going to give us a good relief pitcher for Brady Clark so why not just keep him.

How exciting is this:

In the first half, Sheets was out, Davis and Bush were poor the first 2 months, Cappy was very good, and Okha was out.

And we remained 3.5 games out of the division and 2.5 out of the Wild Card.

Now -- Sheets is returning, Davis and Bush seem to have found it, Cappy is still Cappy, and Okha is returning.

I don't know how any Brewers fan can't be excited about the 2nd half this season.

Prince and Hall are really having problems right now really making the middle of our order rather suspect. I can handle Princes struggles because pitchers are adjusting to him so he now has to figure it out. Meanwhile Hall all of a sudden thinks he is Albert Pujols and is trying to hit a homer run every time. He is turning into Adam dunn with less power
