7/9/2006 Cubs (Rusch) @ Brewers (Davis)1:05 CDT

hawing

Coming to you live from the Pacific Northwest, today's IGT start.

Let's hope Doug stays sharp and the bats can get to Prior. I'll be watching the scoreboard from Safeco Field, thanks in large part to the generosity of fellow poster EdgarDiazRocks.

(The Mariners are riding a 6 game losing streak and will be trying to prevent a Tigers sweep today. It could possibly be worse.)

EDIT: To change Prior to Rusch.

I have no problem calling this one must win. Teams capable of going to the playoffs simply do not go 1-3 at home against the Chicago Cubs.

The Brewers are now a combined 10-13 against the 4 worst teams in baseball (Pirates, cubs, Nationals, Royals). The combined winning percentage of those teams is.378. The combined winning percentage of those teams against the Milwaukee Brewers: .565! Good grief! Continuing to lose to bad teams reduces the Brewers margin for error to nothing.

Anyone who thinks this team can get anywhere near the playoffs pulling that is fooling themselves beyond belief. Those teams have the winning % they do because the other teams in the league competing for the playoffs are beating them like a rented mule on a regular basis.

Beyond that, you enter that 9 game road trip after the break 2 games under .500, and they pretty much will have to be spectacular on that trip considering it comes against other playoff contenders in Arizona, SF, and Cincinatti.

I have to work during the game..I get to listen to it on radio though...although, I don't really do any work when i'm listening to it, and customers seem to annoy me even more than the already do....Brewers really need this one to go into the break on an upside....500 would be actually pretty nice considering the injuries, and pathetic pitching..with some guys coming back and still close to wild card and division lead, this could be a really exciting second half...Go Crew!

Thanks for updating, Peavey. I wasn't aware of the scratch.

So...let's hope Doug stays sharp and the bats can get to Rusch.

Here's some Sharpie mojo for good measure:

I admit I feel alot better with Rusch instead of Prior, as I thought Prior was due for a dominant game.

2.2 IP, 6H 7ER 3BB 0K 4HR was Rusch's line when the Crew absolutely owned him back on April 29.

Let's do it again and go into the break at .500. How appropriate would that be?

I don't want to jinx it, but we are really lucky to get Rusch instead of Prior. Not that Prior is all that great right now but Rusch might be the worst pitcher in the league. If we can't put up some runs against Glendon, we're in big trouble.

Jenks hit a HR against Cincy....therefore he will likely be in the lineup from this day forward. that and the fact that Hart is no longer hitting over .350 he won't get anoyher start until he is.
