Trade Prediction a year from now at this time...

Halladay for Lawrie and a pitching prospect.

I predict CC and Ben leave. I predict we are around 5-10 games over .500 at the all star break with Yo and Manny holding down the one and two slots in the rotation. Doug will decide to get the best pitcher on the market, which will be Roy. Toronto would LOVE to get a Canadian with the potential of Lawrie. Salome and Lucroy (provided he's still in the organization) make this trade one we can handle. I can easily see this trade happening in a year.

While this deal does make perfectly good sense, theres 1 snag. Lawrie can't be dealt until 1 year after he's signed, and he likely won't sign until the middle of August. The deal could be Halladay for a PTBNL and a pitching prospect, with Lawrie being on the PTBNL list, but that would be a PR nightmare for Toronto, to deal Halladay and not even be able to brag up the guy you got to your fans.

The Brewers will have a slew of other Canadians who will be working there way into the middle and upper minors next year though. The Brewers Canadian scouting is really starting to show fruit.

I doubt the Jays will deal Halladay for some random Canadians. I think, if they want to trade him at some point, they'll take back the best players offered, regardless of nationality.

I mean, the only Canadian of note on their team is Matt Stairs and their attendance is fine (7th out of 14), so I don't really see any evidence that they are or should be making decisions based on people's nationality.

I have faith that we sign Sheets or CC. One or the other and since Sheets has actually been average at best lately it may be him. With Yo taking CC's spot I think rotation is similar to what it is now and with the offense developing further I believe we will be 18-20 games over .500 at this time next year. Maybe make a trade to pick up a 2B if Ricky hasn't figured it out yet. Roberts maybe?

I hope the Brewers do not waste any more pieces trading for short term "name" solutions.

Here's a few trade ideas and offseason moves:

-Weeks & Nelson to the Royals for David DeJesus (this would be more likely if the Royals sent Bannister to the Yanks for Cabrera as rumored on mlbtraderumors.com).

-Resign Sheets to a 4yr/$60M with team option ($16M or $4M buyout). Put incentive clause for option to vest (like IP).

-Trade Suppan to the Phillies for Pedro Feliz (Feliz is a good defender and can platoon at 3B w/Branyan. The Phillies can use some pitching and will pick up most/all of his salary).

-Pick up Kendall's option (I'd say it's a given at this point).

-Decline Cameron's option

-Resign Durham to a 1 yr deal if he'll go for it (He and Hall can platoon at 2B).

-Sign Hardy to a 3yr/~$20M deal with team option for a 4th year (based off of the deal Reyes got taking into account Hardy's service time. hopefully can move to 2B when Escobar is ready).

-Look for an inexpensive SP to compete for a back end of the rotation spot.

-Look for a decent reliever (although there would be worse things than a bullpen of Torres, Riske, Villanueva, Shouse, Stetter, Dillard/Pena, & long man).

The platoon spots will hopefully be filled soon by Gamel and Hardy (Escobar to SS). I doubt any of these will actually happen, but I think they'd set the Brewers up pretty well to compete year after year.
