Really? What do you have against Chad Moeller? He wasn't good, but it wasn't his fault he was the best option we had. I have a nice memory of him since I was at the game when he hit for the cycle.

I dunno if that's totally fair. They were trying to make the club as attractive as possible while on the market.

Maybe it's another thread all together for people to explain that time to me better

I wasn't as in tune back then but, from where I sat, it was crushing to hear

Understandable. At the time it was tough for me to understand and angered me as well. Benefit of hindsight though it could have been one of the factors that encouraged Attanasio to buy the team.

Don't look now. Cordero has been doing this to the Reds the better part of the last week.

Berry adds power to Brewers lineup

By Tom Haudricourt

Relegated to platoon status with the Houston Astros, Sean Berry does not see himself as a part-timer with the Milwaukee Brewers.

"I didn't come here to sit the bench. I want to play every day," said Berry, who arrived in town Tuesday night after signing a two-year, free-agent deal with the Brewers.

Frustrated in previous attempts to address their shortcomings this winter, the Brewers finally achieved a breakthrough by adding some badly needed right-handed pop to their lineup. A third baseman by trade, Berry will play first base for Milwaukee.

Brewers extend Bando three years

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 5 (UPI) _ The Milwaukee Brewers today (Monday)

extended the contract of general manager Sal Bando three years through

the 2001 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 54-year-old Bando was extended even though the team just suffered

its sixth straight losing season. He has been in his current post since

Oct. 8, 1991, which ties him for the fifth-longest tenure in baseball

among active general managers. ``Sal is the right person to make us a

winning team,'' said Wendy Selig-Prieb, Brewers president and chief executive officer.

By MURRAY CHASS

Published: August 1, 1996

The San Diego Padres, seeking a power boost for their pennant run, grabbed Greg Vaughn, one of the American League's primary power hitters this season, from the Milwaukee Brewers.

For Vaughn and a player to be named, the Padres gave the Brewers outfielder Marc Newfield and relief pitchers Ron Villone and Bryce Florie.
