The Value of this Board

orca1963

This may need to get moved somewhere else but I just wanted to take a second and say how much I appreciate this forum. I somethimes visit the Brewers board from MLB as well as the Cubs (more now just for the sheer thrill). The amount of trolling and nastiness there just grows the more the race heats up.

I am just a man who loves the game, especially when it is played right. I guess the same goes for discussion about baseball. This forum has a lot of stats but it also has the most intelligent discussion I have seen of any board on the web except for a triathlete board I go to. (That is a lifestyle so the trolling and such would not have much of a place there anywhere).

The sappy point I am trying to make is I want to thank the mods and the people that post here for a job well done. Now I need to do something manly to get the sappy need to hug someone out of my head.

I might as well post as well here.

Brewerfan.net is like porn to me. I am on this site basically all night. The 1st thing I think about whenever a trade goes down is "what are the guys going to think about this".

Greatest website... EVER.

This Web site is amazing. I know I've learned a lot from reading and posting here over the last few years. It's to the point, that I can't really stand talking baseball anywhere else because comparatively, no one else seems to have the same level of knowledge and insight that the people here do. We're a special brand of nerds. I dig it.

The other thing I wanted to mention was that when I come online, Brewerfan.net is the last site I go to because I know I'll spend the most time on it. I'll look at other sports news on other sites, and the coverage of almost everything is more in-depth here. The Off-Topic forum is one of the best places for news or any other information.

Agreed on all points. Most of my Brewers tidbits/stories start with "On BrewerFan." When I'm at a game and something big happens, I think "wonder what the boards saying right now." And I reiterate what Mac said above, it's the last site I go to because I know I'm spending the most time here.

I'm definitely a smarter fan now. Thanks.

In my job I'm paid to think out loud. To try and come up with all the possiblities, no matter how weird they sometimes are. That bleeds over onto this board often, I say things to try them out, to gather opinons I wouldn't have thought of, etc. Well, I know that can be annoying, and I know that sometimes I've been labelled or not taken as seriously because of that, but despite that people here really do treat others with respect. If things do go wrong and get a little (and I emphasize little) tit for tat, it's because of the shear amount of knowledge and passion represented here. This is not just a great board; it's a great resource for anyone interested in increasing his or her baseball IQ. I love this place and never miss a day.

I enjoy the lack of "nastiness", the lack of cussing, and the overall pleasantness of this forum. Before I joined, my husband would mention daily something he read here. As I became more curious, he showed me other forums, where the quality was obviously much lower. When he finally talked me into joining (not because I didn't want to join but because I'm already busy much of the year with my teaching duties), I was honored (too sappy?) to become a member of such a great forum. I don't post often, but I enjoy reading the various discussions.

i am italian, so this site rappresent everything i know about the brewers, about what the fans think, the only unofficial source i really trust and enjoy.

despite the fact that my english is not very good and that I see the action with ours and ours of jet lag (though some nights i stay sleepless watching the game) i don't write as much as i would but i watch this board every single day.

kalle, viva italia!!!

(menotti is very italian, as i'm sure you can tell)

off topic: "el flaco" menotti (it is true, it his a italian surname) lead argentina (with some help from the regime and the refrees too) to win the soccer world cup in 1978.

i like hime very much, he trained sampdoria (in my city, genova) at the beginning of this century and was a journalist favorite!!

I rarely if ever actually post here on BF.net, but I spend way more time than I ought to here. The opinions, insights and conversations are always worth reading. I've been hanging out here and reading what's been going on with my beloved Brewers for at least the last 5 seasons. Thanks to everyone that keeps this place great.

Exactly. All other boards are just child's play, "amateur hour".

Right on! I started posting (mostly reading) here when I started dating my boyfriend, who is a life-long Brewers fan. I was referred here from another team message board. (I grew up a Yankee fan. Don't hate!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif) I thought I was so lucky to find such a great board, now maybe not so much. Only because it was a year later I introduced my boyfriend to bf.net by chance and now he's kinda obsessed.

This site is filled with a great amount of insight and discussion about the Milwaukee Brewer franchise. There are many different views that get posted and disagreements with stat heads vs gut feeling/what they see kind of guys. All in all we are here since we have one commone interest and that being the Milwaukee Brewers.

I spend a ton of time on this site because you can still get info on teams and what is going on on with them also on this site. That info comes from a dedicated base of fans that like to share the info and discuss it. Off Top topic really has a lot of interesting stuff in it I tend to real a lot of the UW stuff to see what other people are talking about.

Brian and all that do the behind the scenes work keep it up this site is top notch, and the trolls usually are not around for long.

I think that I speak for many of the "lurkers" out there when I say Thank You! This site, thanks to the moderators and posters alike, make it all the more fun to be a Brewer fan!

While I do not post very often, I like to think of myself as the shy quiet type in the back of the classroom who aces all of the tests -- but only because the other students have done such an excellent job discussing the subject matter.

And just for the record, (my opinions on all of the most common topics that I haven't posted on): I support Ned Yost, I still think Rickie will develop, I would like to trade Prince and Billy in the off-season (not that I don't love them), I believe in the "intangibles" that guys like Suppan bring to the team are more beneficial than people might think, I want to keep Gamel at 3rd Base, I want to move Hardy to 2nd base and bring up Escobar, I dearly love Milwaukee's front office/personnel -- and trust them implicitly (not that they are infallible), and I have dedicated far too many hours of my 31 years on this earth following the Brewers.

Thanks again to the guys and gals (especially those gals who "put up" with us), and may we celebrate many a World Championship together!

Go Brewers! Go Brewerfan!

Cheers! [beer Steins clinking]

Agreed, absolutely.

Now I need to do something manly to get the sappy need to hug someone out of my head.

Make sure not to do something wimpy like running a triathalon.

Brewerfan.net is like porn to me.

And also to the infamous crazyK1294:

We are indeed a special brand of nerds. I know *exactly* what you mean about not being able to discuss baseball anymore with most other fans. I typically just bite my tounge & have a pleasant conversation, but in my head I'm really screaming, 'ERA!?! He's thrown 50 IP!'

Holy crap, kalle8! You've got to be the hardest-working Brewers-fan. I mean, I enjoy football (Serie A, E.P.L., Sp. Primera, etc.), but I certainly haven't learned Italian, or Spanish, or English... wait... so I can go post on a fan forum. Very impressive, as is your willingness to stay up all night just to watch the Brewers. Wow!

The staff appreciates your kind words, everyone, believe me.

We'll never please everyone, but so far in July, nearly 4,500 of you are making us part of your day, every day.

Yes, we are smashing records, and we can only imagine we'll continue to do so with the Crew rolling on.
