Official Silver Lining Thread

Hopefully we finally stop worshiping the 82 team and get rid of the retro uniforms that we never do well wearing. Let this team have their own identity. You can still sell all the old retro merchandise - just dont wear it on the field.

I don't live in Chicago anymore.
To add to this. My dad found a job in southeastern Wisconsin at the last minute so I didn't have to move to Chicago and probably become a Chicago fan.

I could live there until I died an old man in my bed and I'd never turn to the dark side.

I lived about a mile from Wrigley for eight years. October 2003 was awful (expect for the happy ending).

I'd probably head out of town for a couple weeks if I still lived there now. I've said this elsewhere, but I'm almost certain I'd have gotten in some kind of dust-up by now.

When we came home from the game, my wife told me we are out of toilet paper and I am too tired to go to the store right now. I DO have 4 terrycloth surrender flags issued at Miller Park for the mass giving up of the season tonight that we can use until I get to the store tomorrow.

I know I could never root for any other team either but you must understand this happened while I was 3 years old so I wasn't really a sports fan yet. I'd probably be a Packers fan because my dad is a huge fan and he'd force me to be but he doesn't care about baseball or basketball so it would've been Bulls and either the Cubs or White Sox.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eyes.gif

my silver lining is going to be that we won our last game. most every Brewers site you visit in the offseason keeps the score of the last game up until Spring ball starts. so i'm happy i'll at least get to see a winning Brewers score for the next five months.

We draft ahead of the Cubs next year.

And of course we get to revel in the Cubs' folding like a stick of chewing gum in the NLDS (lookin' at you, Stephen Colbert!) with quotes like this one from Mark DeRosa:

"It's so demoralizing right now. Offensively, we couldn't put anything together and put pressure on them."

Yea, if only the Cubs'd had a situation like bases loaded, 3-1 count on the batter...I do realize he was likely referring to the entire series, but it's still fun to laugh.
