Here's to Billy Hall! Way to go Bill, and your classiness of simply putting your head down to run the bases was a beautiful thing to see. But it did actually make me think, 'oh - he just missed it, dang!' Thanks for fooling me with classiness, can't wait for you to get back in your groove!

Doug Melvin was in attendence for this series, sitting right behind the dugout watching Ned Yost closely do the following in today's 7-4 loss to the Pirates:

Not pinch run Damien Miller in the top of the 7th right before Joe Dillon's double to left, with Mel Stocker stretching in the dugout

Hit Bill Hall with 1 out and a runner at first and third in the 8th with two doubles plays already on his scorecard.

Hit Jenkins against the lefthander Grabow with the bases loaded and two out in the same 8th inning when Estrada could have hit from the right side.

Put Turnbow in the game again in the 8th inning (never any other inning) in another high leverage situation, on zero days rest.

Allow Turnbow to pitch to another batter after walking one guy knowing he has had a lot of work lately.

Allow Turnbow to pitch to another batter after walking his second guy in a row.

Thanks Doug for buying a ticket to this game and observing your manager and team closely!!!

You've got the players, buy you have to decide on the manager.

Cards and Cubs play each other 4 time in three days this weekend. They'll both lose a couple, or one of them will fall way back.

I'm just more worried about the Cubs than the Cards. I hope the Card sweep the Cubs this weekend. Cubs just have more talent with which to do be a thorn in our side.

The Cubs have handled the Cards this season, but it's always a heated rivalry and sometimes does strange things. That's my silver lining comment for right now.

I've taken a few days off. This is my first post in about a week. After taking everything in this season, I feel really good no matter what happens. Yes, they could have a won a few more and made the race less exciting. But for the first time in recent memory, I was MORE interested in a Brewer game than MNF. I've sat patiently in the stands watching horrible baseball waiting for "the kids" to come up. I watched a guy like Bill Hall blossom (yes, I know he's wilting lately) into a great player. Well, win or lose, they're all here and it's exciting.

I have tickets to the final game of the season and I cannot wait to give the team a standing ovation no matter the outcome of the year. This has been the best year for me as a Brewers fan and as frustrating as things have been at times, this has been an absolute blast this season.

I don't know why but I truly believe this team is going to pull a game out of their behinds and win the pennant in dramatic fashion. This is going to be a great 3 weeks.

Disregarding Yost and all of his inadequacies, I love this team. We've shown so much heart, passion, and desire this year. These guys deserve to win. They deserve to be put in good positions to win. They deserve to hear a stadium full of rowdy fans cheering them on. Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Gallardo, etc. I am glad the future is here. I am glad it is living up to what everyone said it would be.

Even through all his mistakes, Ned Yost has not reduced me to calling for MLB to eliminate the position of manager. I still believe that the post can be used for good, as opposed to evil.

I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully.

Cubs have to face 5 straight left handed pitchers. Maholm, Duke, and Gorzellany (sp?) against Pitt and Willis, Scott Olsen in Florida. .257 AVG .318 OBP .416 SLG .734 OPS vs. Lefties. Compared to .274 AVG .336 OBP .415 SLG .751 OPS against righties. Advantage Brewers.
