It doesn't matter how you get into the playoffs, just that you get there. I keep telling myself this, even though it gets hard when Joel Piniero is throwing a 3-hitter into the 7th inning. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif

At least we have a better record that what our Pythagorean record indicates it should be....guess it's kinda difficult to keep pace with a plummetting Pythagorean when every 8-0, 12-4, blowout loss only equals 1 loss in the standings.

Obviously, it's getting really, really tough to find any silver linings anymore

at least the cubs lost...err ugh they won? crap, there goes that saying that. umm, the sun will come up tomorrow? seriously the silver lining thread is pretty ridiculous. everything in here is such a stretch to be happy about something.

I do think that this two-month stretch of crappy play should at least help Melvin & Co. look at the roster differently this off-season. Not that they weren't realistic before. But the honeymoon may officially be over for at least a few of the guys who've continued to get by more on potential than on recent performance (Capuano keeps coming to mind...).

I can't say I know how they'll want to re-shape things. And fortunately a lot of the young guys will continue to grow from this year's experience and may even come back stronger next year (not that I expect Braun or Fielder to top this year's rates of production).

The cool thing, I think, is that this team could still pull their heads out and run away with this division, however unlikely their present play makes that seem impossible.

Finding something to be happy about, even when it's minor, is what gets some people through the day.

You don't have to participate, but please don't use this thread to knock the concept.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

How's this for a silver lining? If this keeps up, Ned Yost might snap and kill Tom Haudricourt in a murderous rage one of these days. That way, Ned could be relieved from his managing duties for a little while and we wouldn't have to read Chicken Little Haudricourt's "The Sky is Falling!" drivel. Two birds with one stone. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Seriously, though, there's still a month and a half to play. If the Brewers can remain near first place through the rest of August, I still like their chances in September. IMO, the guys that the Brewers would call up in September are better than the guys the Cubs and Cardinals would call up. The depth of September is something this team really needs right now.

then the next time someone gets mad at someone for venting in the vent thread, I want something said to them too. because that happens a whole lot more in the vent thread than in this thread.

If you disagree wtih someones silver lining then by all means criticize it, but I haven't seen a single person come into the vent thread and complain that it even exists. Its just some of the vents are so outlandishly offbase that its hard not to respond to them.

i'm just saying that people in this thread seem to be reaching. and in most threads people even admit to be reaching. Just seems silly to me..but thats just my opinion. I myself need to reach for something to be happy with too. I will not mock the silver lining thread again, im sorry.

I also would like to say that if there could be ONE silver lining about the absolute disgrace of a second half the Brewers are putting up is the fact that I don't think Ned Yost will survive. But then again I wouldn't be one bit surprised if the Brewers do finish in third place and Ned is back next year battling...this is turning in to a vent thread, but how could it not? Out.

It's hard to find something positive so far but at least we can fall back on that this team is young and at least in my mind should compete for the division title if not the world series title for at least the next 6 years. This while it sucks right now is going to be a good thing and next year maybe we will just run away with the division as i don't think there are any other teams that are going to improve like we will over the years. GO BREWERS!

I would rather be in first place at our rock bottom than ten under like the Cards and Cubs were this season. That is if this is our rock bottom. If this is our rock bottom, then I think we might be in O.K. shape. I really hope they can turn it around.

I was told today that I would have to pay $907 to attend the Brewers post season games. But after watching all the games this week in person, I realize that in October I will be getting a huge refund from the Brewers.
