hitting streak for brewers' starting pitchers

djoctagone

the brewers' starting pitchers have a 6-game hitting streak.

the streak is even more amazing when you realise that ben sheets is part of it.

12 july: mcclung 1-2

13 july: sabathia 1-3, hr (solo)

18 july: sabathia: 1-4, double, run

19 july: sheets: 1-2, double, rbi

20 july: parra: 1-4, rbi

21 july: mcclung: 1-2, run

might this streak be a club record? i'm hard pressed to recall a time when brewers got such production from their starting pitching staff.

Ben has tripled his career doubles total this year. He had one in 2002, and he's had two this year. It's time to consider hitting him cleanup. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Anyone else remember the Ben Sheets interview after the Brewers had just traded for Carlos Lee and said he would be batting cleanup?

In typical dry humor Sheeter style, he said something along the lines of how nice it will be for him to have some protection in the batting order now.

This 6-game streak is a franchise record. The one time there was a 5-game streak was oddly enough the first 5 games of the franchise's existence- in April 1969 by Marty Pattin, Mike Marshall, Gary Bell, Diego Segui, and John Morris of the Pilots. That team also had a 4-game streak later in the season, but even that has only been done 2 or 3 times since. The last time for a 4-game streak was August 2005 for Davis, Sheets, Santos, and Capuano.
