Well, the Brewers are currently in 4th place in the WC, tied with COL(who is winning 3-1 over the pads in the 7th). Astros lost(they gave up 6 runs in the 8th and 9th), so that moves them a full game behind us. Do we have a chance at the WC, or am i dreaming again?

Not for a guy in his second start back from an injury who was already very close to 100 pitches.

He clearly was right at his limit, as evidenced by the first two batters he faced hitting a single and HR. But yeah, he had been dominant.

The smart move there was Shouse.

I'd go along with those who were okay with Sheets starting the ninth. It couldn't have been an easy decision, though, considering that you have a pretty solid leftie specialist, and the first two hitters were lefties.

At least Ned was smart enough to get the bullpen ready in case...unlike on Tuesday, when he hung Bush out to dry and left Shouse to sit on his can.

Now we just have to work on this whole "one outing doesn't mean he's back" perception that apparently exists with Turnbow.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve since birth. Hopefully, it's my only crime.

No brainer to bring Sheets out for the 9th. Four run lead, and he had been dominant. I second-guess Yost as much as anyone, but I think it's silly to question that move. Also glad he had the stones to go get Turnbow. Hopefully he retains the mindset that winning is more important than not hurting his players' feelings, and Jenkins rides a little pine this week.

Hot, dang hot. That was the game today. I think I lost 4 or 5 pounds just eating sausage. I thought the home plate ump was calling things awfully loose as his boss Froemming was melting into a polyester pile at 3rd.

They were selling the Chorizo up and down the aisles but not at the stands. I missed out but my uncle said they were yummy.

That last inning was painful, long, and, as mentioned, hot. Sheets was less than 100 pitches so I had no problem sending him back out there. Does wonders for his confidence.

T-bow looks really frustrated in person. Just crazy to watch too.

Easy to see how the crowd feels about our team. Sheets and Mench get standing Os, Turnbow booed after leaving and Jenkins after popping out in the 7th.

Guess we are on the Cordero wagon until he blows one, then Ned is obviously an idiot.

The Chorizo was sold in the "Brat Bar" thingers. They had both Brats and Chirizos and all kinds of funky sauces.

Game wasn't nearly as hot as last night was. The 9th inning melt down was creepy, the stadium was insanely quiet. It was almost like a library.

Yeah, my cousin and i were joking about "Wild Thing" Turnbow before Sheets 8th inning AB, and then we were laughing nervously when we saw him warming up and then it was pretty stone-faced and quiet after Aurilia's homer. I seriously needed some antacid after that. I'm too young for this kind of stress.

Let me just say first:

I. Heart. Ben. Sheets.

And I missed him these last 11 months (the last time I was present at a start of his was the one when he went down last August).

I love to watch him pitch. I love it when he's dealing. I love all of his strikeouts. Heck, I loved his sac bunt.

Ahem. OK.

Nah, I know what a library sounds like and even that 9th inning wasn't it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But the 9th was right when the sun was hitting our section, and that just added to our on-field discomfort.

I think those of us who attended today really caught a break with the cloud cover during the first half of the game. Had it been sunny the whole time, that would have been some bad climate action.

Oh, and Mench/Cordero, nice of you to make the Brewers brass look good today. I don't recall the last time I was at a game with a curtain call - that was cool. Ben tipped his hat to the crowd on his way out, too.

After reading the thread, I am probably going to quietly chant to myself, "MENCH Mench Mench Mench MENCH Mench Mench Mench" every time I see him up now. (Kind of like how Homer Simpson chants Sports sports sports sports.)

I don't care about the wild card race, but the Brewers made me happy today. That's all I want.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

That is his hard curve...not biting or floating curve. Ben has a nice yakker!

An 12 to 6 and 11 to 5 drop...nice arm action. Can come from various arm slots. He sells his breaking balls well.

Ben's command has improved because as you can see, he does not walk many and he throws strikes.

And in his follow through he comes over and down a bit more to take that strain off his elbow. Not like Francisco Liriano and Dontrelle... On day they might blow an elbow.

That may be a reason Griffey went yard on the first pitch. Ben if he gets hit it is early in the count...because they know he is coming with a strike and a ball around the plate.

It's a good thing to see...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
