Wasn't all the hype about J.R. Towles that he is supposed to be a good hitter? He has looked like garbage all season and Dempster just schooled him like an A-baller with the bases loaded.

That strike 3 to Backe was a ball, but that's a make up call for the 2-2 where the first base umpire said he didn't go when he quite obviously did. Backe's reaction was pretty funny. I'm kind of surprised the umpire didn't toss him for it considering how quick of a trigger some umps have these days.

Padres pitcher Cha Seung Baek homered off Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia to give the Padres a 3-1 lead in the top of the 5th.

 

The Braves have given up 14 runs to the Nationals through 5 innings... yikes.

Wait until you see how long the home run trot took for Padre pitcher Cha Seung Baek (spelling, I know). Anyway, he punished the ball -- Padres up 3-1 in the 5th.

With runners at first and second and one out in the ninth, Carlos Beltran was caught stealing third base.

 

The batter wound up singling to right, the Mets stranded runners at first and third.

 

I know what I'd be saying if the Brewers had just done that.

Cardinals score 3 in the 8th, but the Pads are tyring to rally, having scored one and now have men on the corners with only one out. Currently 5-4 Cardinals.
