Expectations about site/user giveaways

We had a situation where a user generously gave away tickets via random giveaway to another BFnetter (tomter38), and those tickets got sold on eBay, for over face value no less. The user who sold the tickets on eBay as a result has been banned on this site. The back story is that the person requested that the tickets be dropped off at his place because he claimed he was going to be running late, and couldn't meet the person who gave the tickets away. 14 minutes after that person dropped off the tickets, they went on sale on eBay. The face value of the pair of tickets was $72.00. The selling cost on eBay was $102.00.

Not cool. Not cool at all.

One of the things I've enjoyed about the site is how helpful users tend to be towards each other. I feel that in this case there was a major breach of trust, and I will do everything in my power to combat that kind of thing. It's you, the users, who have made this site what it is, and I feel that mutual respect is what helps set us apart from other websites.

Wow that is horrible. I did get tickets from Pedro before and would never imagine doing such a thing. One of the draw backs of how valuable brewer tickets are these days and difficult to come by, is that some may try to take advantage of the situation. I know I once couldn't make a game from my season ticket package and sold the tickets on ebay for face within an hour.

...tickets be dropped off at his place

So we know where this knob lives? I wanna see the Automator automate all up over this clown. I got your back.

Honestly, it's angry news to hear. Takes away from the credibility of any of us who might be the next to take up an offer for free tickets....

I agree. I got tickets from Pedro in the first Mota Relief Fund and couldn't have been more appreciative of his generosity. It takes a really low person to do that especially when you consider someone else that was vying for those tickets possibly lost out so this person could scam a profit.

I probably should have gotten in on this earlier, but my opinion would have been the same.

This is one thing I will not tolerate at all. When I heard of this, I got pretty ticked off and felt bad for the person who gave the tickets away in the first place.

I am completely for the individual being banned, and will keep it as a standard action if someone insults the generosity of another site member. We are a pretty tight knit community here, and it's the users who have made Brewerfan a well respected fan site.

With all that said, I am proud of this site, and I'm proud to be associated with all of you who continue to show excitement for the Milwaukee Brewers, and Brewerfan.net.

Totally wrong. I have gotten some tickets from Pedro before and still am very appreciative. If you don't plan to use them don't take them and if something changes offer them back or pay it forward. Although it seems like this case was just someone trying to make a buck. Very sad to hear.

I'm not sure if this was a Pedro thing or not, but did the person who delivered them go to a suburban Norman Rockwell setting, or a rough neighborhood? If this gent sold the tiks to make a car payment or something, it may have been unethical, but they were his to use as he pleased, I guess. I would assume this is listed somewhere as a violation, but I never would have thought about it.

I have given away Amoco passes annually and ask only that they enjoy the tiks or give them to someone who will, but of course, have no idea if they did or if they were sold...albeit, for $5 maybe.

Let's not lose sight in this whole ugly business that Mota continues to plague us all, and that while Mota has been dormant recently, it can strike mercilessly and without warning. I'm very appreciative of Pedro's and everyone else's efforts to help rid us of this scourge once and for all.

Together we can beat this thing.

I've made use of the Trading Post fairly frequently and have had nothing but positive experiences. I love that there is such trust around here. I purchased tickets from another user this week and he sent me the tickets before I sent the payment. No problems, no questions. A family member expressed disbelief that the other member would just send them out and I said "Well, it's BrewerFan" as though that explained it all. I have no qualms making transactions here and have given away tickets without a second thought. I'm glad we have that community and I'm thankful that the Mods are doing things to keep it that way.

What does that have to do with anything?

I was also a recipient of a pair of tickets to last Sunday's game and was very appreciative of the kind gesture. It was a great game to watch w/a great atmosphere. I think my dad had a blast and I know I did. Thank you very much.

Pedro = Cool

tomter38 = Extremely uncool

I'm guessing there is a way to prevent this clown from registering under another username.

And it was totally appropriate to ban him for this behavior.

Enough with the pandering.

I actually traded a fellow BF member tickets for a game for the upcoming Cubs series. He had tickets for a game he couldn't attend and I needed extras for the day he had. I never once had any reservations about just mailing out tickets to his address and expecting him to do the same. It was an even trade for a pair of terrace box tickets and everything went perfectly smooth. I guess I just never imagined that anyone on here would actually scam (that's basically what I consider it) another member.

I agree that this was an isolated experience and it still doesn't make me cautious of fellow actual Brewer Fans at all. Long Live BF.net!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

I sent Brewer pint glasses to some dude in Portland on nothing more than his promise to pay. He did pay. It really is a nice board where you can generally trust people.

I blame Wang.

I just read about this today, and that's pretty low. I know I'm a newer member, but I've read brewerfan.net for a while, and one of the things that drew me to signing up was the generocity I see from guys like Pedro.
