Ned really thinks we can still win this game, using Shouse for 2 innings, using Wise, and emptying the bench.

That is so un-Nedly. lol

I thought, statistically speaking, that Yost made all the right moves tonight with the exception of keeping Ohka in there in the first, and even that is questionable. He did well to his first two hitters and then kept throwing them right over the middle of the plate and got burned. Gross probably could have hustled on that Ramirez hit and might have caught it, thus limiting the damage.

One poor inning pitched followed by 8 innings of pretty darn good pitching overall equals doom for this Royals-esque lineup. You can pour statistics out your butt about our hitters but when you look at names only, once we lost Carlos, we became the Royals.

Watching the post-game press meeting with Yost, he seems about as frustrated as everyone else, but he's trying not to be all knee-jerk about it and make changes for the sake of making changes.

... however, something needs to be done offensively at this point. We've scored more than 4 runs in 4 out of the last 16 games, and 2 of those games we lost. And if with the injuries we have our hands tied and we can't generate any more offense than this, as much as I hate to say it, it may be time to get the young guys out there and try to see if they can get it done and at least get us to a respectable final record.

No, I thoroughly enjoy the aged veterans out there giving it their all in a battle to finish third in the almighty NL central.

The changes he's looking to make have little to do with fielding a high quality/deep/expensive lineup.

How about one that wins. If anything, in the middle tier salaried teams, it has little to do with spending 100 million or 60 million.

But Oswald, you missed Daron's yelling into the microphone on the Corey Hart drive to right field.

I thought he got all of it, too, but Daron just about gave me a heart attack. My heart was still thumping in the 8th inning from his call.

I don't feel the enthusiasm for Gross the way some people do. He looks ugly at the plate most of the time, and he cannot hit lefties, ever. His value to the team should include coming off the bench, not starting and leading off. I hope that TGJ is our centerfielder next year, because I see much more upside to his talent level (especially leading off) than I see in Gross. my opinion.

I agree Gwynn and Hart need to play more. Here would be my lineup once Weeks is back:

1. Tony Gwynn-CF

2. Rickie Weeks-2B

3. Prince Fielder-1B

4. Kevin Mench-LF

5. Bill Hall-SS

6. Corey Hart-RF

7. Jeff Cirillo-3B

8. Damian Miller-C

9. Pitcher

Now that lineup has some potential. Maybe Bell for Rillo once on awhile and Rivera to give Miller a day off.

Yeah, that was scary. I was looking away from the TV at that point, and all of a sudden I hear Daron screaming.

Yeah, me too. My wife was trying to show me something funny from a catalog and Daron started screaming. Scared me to death in an excited way--and then a disappointing way.
