The only idea I've ever heard that is not anti-woman, so to speak, is a day out at a ballgame, or I suppose a concert or comedy club. A steak dinner followed by a sporting event is the only way you'd ever get me to one.

EDIT: I know one group that went to dinner and then to a Jerry Seinfeld show, the same night we went to see Jerry. I have told many folks that and they all said that was a refreshing change of pace.

my cousin and I have each held "Independent [insert name her] Memorial Golf Classic" events when we each got married (he was my best man, and I was his). We even printed out little brochures with maps to the golf club, quotes and pictures of famous people not attending, and some prizes. It was a great time and only about $30 per person. But that was just the golf, of course.

I had an awesome time on a Lake Michigan fishing charter for a bachelor party, It put me back about $50 + fishing license + food and alcohol. Our limit was 5 a piece I believe, we had 6 hours booked but we caught our limit in about 4 hours. I can't remember how many people we had on the boat, I think 5-7. I am sure there are bigger boats available. You can also never go wrong with a Brewer game and a night on the town afterwards

You could change up the golf to be a best ball style so that it's fun for non-golfers too.

A lot of my friends have been getting married and a repeat activity we have done is going to the Apple River outside Eau Claire for drinking/camping/floating down a river, now this is probably for a 18-25 year old demographic as the river is full of drunken debauchery. And depending on which campground you are at, you may not have peace and quiet.

ideally, i would like to involve golf, tailgating, a brewer game, and bars...

but the other people going aren't big golfers and some of them aren't even (gulp!) big brewer fans...

That is exactly what we did for my cousins husbands bachelor party. Except we did paintball and not golf. That was one of the funnest days of my life. Just had a blast.

I'm getting married in May and for my bachelor party we are going to do the same thing in April with the golf.

For my friend we started out at Hooters, went barhopping for a couple hours & went to Comedy Sportz. Comedy Sportz was a blast. They have the clean show & they have the midnight show. We had a bite to eat at Perkins & crashed at my buddies house at 4AM.

Our other ideas included camping, a concert at Alpine Valley(Kid Rock & Aerosmith) or head to Chicago to see the Blue man Group.

I also recommend the paintball party. Not all of the guys will be close friends so the opportunity to shoot the non-liked-as-much new brother-in-law with a paintball gun is loads of fun. Plus, you have "battle wounds" to compare, and a good workout to boot. You can get by pretty economically on this and then finish up w/ a bonfire and booze plus grilling and you have a full day and evening...

I'm taking my Brother and his friends on a camping trip for his. Super cheap. 1 site 2 nites = 34 dollars at a state park campground. Then you buy booze nad food, + fish and swim at the lake.

there's something about drunken swimming that frightens me.....

I've done the paintball bachelor party before, too. it was a lot of fun.

I'm confused. Did you say a BP without strip clubs? So you plan to hire private strippers? Good call.

For my party, they hired me a stripper, and a good one at that. Money well spent as far I was concerned.

I wouldn't have a bachelor party any other way.

Sorry, I just don't think it's a true bachelor party without a nice looking woman taking her clothes off for you.

How about a day at the dog races - Dairyland? Or, if you want to travel a little further, you could go down to Arlington Park for horse races (although the quality of horses there are not nearly what they were 20 years ago.). Races are run rain or shine (dogs and horses).

Several years ago. I planned a bachelor party for a friend. We stopped at a strip club at one point in the night. One of the guys would not go in because he had strict orders from his wife not to go to any strip clubs. Yikes. What do women think happens in these strip clubs? Nothing they should really be concerned about, at least not in places like Silk and OTB.

I had a feeling this conversation was going to turn into a strip club/strippers conversation...

ok, i get it! many people like going to strip clubs and having strip clubs or strippers involved in their bachelor party. if you want to discuss it further, start your own thread please.

i have never been to a strip club and dont plan on going to one, and neither has the groom to be or the other guy helping me plan the party. this thread is asking for helpful ideas for the party I am planning which has MY conditions.

my apologies that we dont feel that including a tasteless, low-class waste of time and money is necessary for having a good time. if i want to see a woman naked, i will go to my girlfriend's house. but thats just my opinion, and i dont look at the 95% of my other friends who do like strip clubs any differently...

now, if anyone has anything helpful to say, that would be appreciated!

A few years ago, a friend of mine threw a bachelor party for his brother that included renting a 15 passenger van for the day and then having a series of 10 different events at different locations. We started at 9am and finished around 10 pm where we convened at his house for some drinks and cards. We had about 12 guys and we called it the King Tournament. Each event is scored on a 1-12 basis and the person with the most points at the end wins the giant trophy and bragging rights. This does take a bit of planning, but it is well worth it. This September we will be having our 5th annual King Tournament because it is such a good time.

An example of events are mini golf, frisbee golf, home run derby with tennis balls, javelin throw(plastic javelin bought online), go cart racing(there is an indoor go-cart track that times your fastes laps), shuffleboard, punt/pass/kick, BB gun target shooting, etc. We have done over 35 different events. Total cost is about $50 per person. There is no better way to have a bachelor party.

I don't really understand why people get offended by strip clubs. It is usually the bachelor's wife that puts the kibbash on it. I was just at a bachelor party in the dells: Strippers, Golf, Casino and Bag Toss. Great Bachelor Party except for the sleeping situation. Camping sucks unless everyone has a tent and an air mattress. And Camping sucks even more when it rains out most of the weekend. Personally I would go up to a lodge in Wisconsin Dells for a weekend. Plenty of stuff to do.

Menotti80, more people are like you than you think. Every time I've gone to strip-club focused bachelor party, it's been a letdown. There are always a few there that are just to excited for the event and it tends to become a bit strange.

I will submit the 100th recommendation for paintball. It was by far the most fun I've had at a bachelor party.

Marco polo with paintball guns for the bachelor -- good times.

I've also done a rented lodge on a lake and boating, that was a blast.

I've been to a few now that has been a sort of "Bar Olympics," complete with tournament-style brackets and a small prize to be won. You just need to break into teams of two and decide what events you want to do. Although it does take a certain degree of planning and organization. Some "events" we've done: golfing, Madden, poker, ladder golf, bowling, boce ball, darts, pool, bean bag toss, etc. It's fun, but after about 3-4 hours it starts to get difficult to keep track of everything and everyone.

We're just having some fun, no need to be so defensive man!

By the way, how are these ladies going to pay for college without our support??

you're right, and i really not trying to be as defensive as i seemed. i just didn't want to topic to turn into a strip club discussion which it seemed like it was turning into at the time.

more great suggestions, thanks guys!
