Fall/Winter videogame lineup

I have to vouch for Goozex as well, been on there a few months and have already got a few new games, like Metal Gear Solid 4 and MLB 08 The Show, just from trading my old games that I didn't play anymore. As long as you are patient for new releases it is a great (cheap) way to pick up some new games for old ones.

Update: COD4 was short...but the online gaming is FREAKING AMAZING! I'm hooked. I saw a "brewcrewfan4life" on there today. If you want to form a COD4 party let me know. Invite uwl_alum to be a friend and we can go on a killin spree http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I would have loved to play some SnD with ya. Once I got to being a gold cross, I decided itd be best to move on to cod5. If you ever get that though, feel free to add me. Stoutdude04

Received word today that MLB 2k9 will be offered on PC this year!!!!! Finally, a new baseball game for the PC, although I've got my MVP 05 updated to the 08 mod through MVP mods so it's practically a new game, although the graphics engine is really starting to show its age.

I'm pretty sure I'll buy the game if it gets anywhere near a decent review by experts and users alike. Otherwise, I won't waste the money and keep playing the older game, which is pretty darn close to a perfect baseball simulation you can get (for a video game not named DMB or OOTP [i.e. text-sim games.])

By the way, is it time to change/amend the title of this thread since "Fall" is long gone?

I want to play a good shooter that's NOT an FPS. (PS3 by the way). Any reccomendations?

I've played Haze (not bad, WAY too short), Resistance (awesome, somewhat short), but I can't play FPS for more than 20 minutes at a time or I get motion sickness. That really bites, because most of the good shooters/action titles on the PS3 are FPS.

Also, I can NOT get my PS3 to recognize my internet connection. Honestly, it's really bugging me. I don't play online a lot, but not being able to utilize it at all really pisses me off. It's probably something simple that I'm doing wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Shooter that's not a FPS? And you have a PS3? Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (on my pile o' shame - haven't yet played) or Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction are great options. (There's a PSN demo for both games, as well as a shorter, 'sequel' to R&C - Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, if you'd like to try before you buy in for full retail.)

I don't know that I can really help with your internet connection, but are you hard-wired (ethernet), or Wi-Fi?

Metal Gear Solid is a 3rd person/FPS game if you don't already have that game, Tomb Raider is also a 3rd Person/FPS game, Heavenly Sword which can probably be picked up for about $20 used is a good action game also if you don't have it already.

Running ethernet cable straight from my modem, which I do have to say is 7 years old.

If you have wireless...check that out. If that works, then I would guess there is a problem with the ethernet cord. It tried to use one that was a year old and it didnt work. Swaped it out, boom. Worked like gold.

Two of my all-time favorite franchises releasing new games in the same week, and it's not even during the holiday season.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS) and Street Fighter IV!

Between these two, my WoW addiction, and having picked up Chrono Trigger (DS) for 30% off at Circuit City's liquidation....how am I going to find time to play all of these games?

I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed as a bit of a novelty. That said, I never got into collecting flags, and severely cut down the number of fellow assassins I aided (races, stealth kills)....not because I didn't like them, but because the local crazies kept pushing me into other people, blowing my cover with the guards.

I understand the people who disliked the repetitiveness, but that's something I think they can work on.

For what it's worth, the ending bits are the best parts. The hinted elements they're borrowing from (provided you've stolen the access keys - something completely optional) show some real ambition, and I'm hoping they can make it all pay off.

I just bought (pre-order) Resident Evil 5 at Gamestop. The demo rocks something fierce and I'm starting to get giddy

Gamestop has a nice deal going right now. If you trade in 6+ games, you get a 40% bonus, and if you apply the credit to RE5, you get another 20% on top of that. I traded Super Paper Mario (Wii, rest are PS3), GTA4, Assassin's Creed, The Simpsons Game, Turok, and Quake Wars for $97. Considering I paid $118 total for all of those games and had no intention of playing them again, I'm pretty happy.

Now I just need to sit here and wait for the new controller I ordered to arrive before I can play again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

You like the demo? I've played it a bunch and the aiming system isn't growing on me. I've played every other RE game so I'm sure I'll get 5, but the aiming, the little red dot just stinks.

COD5 is extremely overrated. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they made the grease gun so overpowering. I can't stand how every person in the multiplayer only uses SMGs. It is way too easy to kill with the MP40. Plus they underpowered my Garand. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

I thought the online play was similar to Halo, or Unreal tournament. I might just be used to the COD series. For example, I was playing SnD on Killzone and the players were respawning. Thats just one thing I didnt really like about it. You basically have to use an entire clip to kill one guy. They might be trying to patch it up, but who knows. The graphics were killer, and it was alright. Just not my type of online fps I suppose.

Thanks for that tidbit on COD5 Squirrel. I have COD4 and LOVE it but was considering a move up to 5...maybe that change will wait for COD6 now...
