Fall/Winter videogame lineup

I ended up going with ps3 & MLB2k12. Game play is awesome and I'm impressed by the graphics. I don't really get the season mode however. It seems like I'm unable to play a full season on this game at this point, because the "MLB Today Season Mode" is a counterpart to the real MLB season which is already over. When I try to start a season they automatically sync to the end of the season. Very disappointing to me as all I want to do is play a full season. If anyone knows a way around I'd be interested. Otherwise I'm going back to mlb2k11.

Franchise mode.

Thank you Raw Biz!!! I am so grateful for your post and the start of my season. 0-1 so far and I also lost 2 spring training practice games, but I expect to improve in time. My pitching is really good, I just can't hit a lick. Wainwright two hit shutout me on opening day and one hit was a leadoff bunt single by Aoki.

  • 1 month later...

I've been with COD since the first game which split off from MOH, it's funny how COD blew up and I'd wager few people know or care about the Medal of Honor games anymore. In fact, I was a admin on one of the biggest COD multi-player S&D servers on the net for a long time, 25 vs 25 in S&D was a blast. Until of course the wall hacks and auto aiming from Counterstrike made it's way over, then I spent all my time booting and banning idiots.

That being said, I'm also done with COD, Black Ops 2 was the first COD I didn't buy and I didn't max prestige on MW3, I don't think I ever made it past 5th prestige after maxing in every other game. They've never updated the game play at all while other games are working hard to take cover into account and change the game play. It's just gotten very, very old, and the more the game became like Halo without the bunny hopping over the years the less I've liked it.

I enjoyed Homefront for the game play progression and depth of different tactics available but all my of COD buddies hated it because "it's too hard to kill people". I'm actually back on the computer playing the Ghost Recon open beta here and there, I haven't beta'd a game since World of Warcraft phase III through the open, so it's been a long time since I've computer gamed. Other than a couple of role playing games I've just been using my console to rent and watch movies for the last year or so. I was surprised to find that people are already modding/cheating in GRO, is it really that hard to build a client that can't be hacked or modded? GRO does have potential, it's been fun when I've logged in, but if people are already cheating in open beta what's the final going to be like?

That's the big problem with FPS, too many people would rather cheat than be good, it's just easier to cheat than work at it. I've yet to play one where people didn't mod since Counter Strike, but I've always found the fast paced nature of the gaming addictive... I long for the simpler times of Wolf 3D, Doom, or Quake... making your own maps and just playing straight up with friends at a LAN party. No having to capture movies/screenshots of people flying through the air or any of that other crap to get rid of the cheaters.

I'm going to pick-up Crysis 3 later today to see the franchise through on single player, I've never played the Crysis multiplayer.

MOH: Frontline was my first exposure to the series. The D-Day intro & mission blew my mind at the time.

Can anyone advise on whether or not picking up the '10 limited edition MOH would be worth it, just for the remastered MOH:Frontline? I played the original Frontline game a lot, & it'd be fun to see on the PS3. I ask because I've seen pretty bad reviews for just the '10 version of MOH.

Also, I finally picked up Red Dead Redemption (got the GOTY edition, with the nice extras). I'm in love with this game right now.

TLB I'll be interested to hear your take on RDR as you progress, I'm the only person I know who played it all the way through.

Taking Normandy in the original MOH is in my top 5 video game boards of all time and might be #1 over-all. There were 5-6 people in the room when we finally got off the beach and by the whooping coming from the apartment you would have thought we had won the super bowl or something similarly epic. COD's night drop (I know directly stolen from Band of Brothers) was just awesome at the time too with the tracers whipping by the plane and your character as you drop in, I'll always have a soft spot for the original games of each series.

I loved the original COD. And it's expansion pack. And COD 2.

And then the game started being focused on multiplayer more than single player and I haven't played any of the others. I own them on my steam account (I am PC exclusive, by the way) but haven't played them yet. Not sure when I will. It certainly won't be for any multiplayer.

I liked COD & COD2 as well.

And I really am a bit of a dinosaur in that I still buy games to play offline. I actually really enjoyed all three Modern Warfare campaigns overall, as well as World at War (came out either just after or just before MW1). They had their flaws, but I still felt like I got my money's worth.

First of all, that scene sounds hilarious.

And on RDR, obviously I really like it so far. I just bought the Elegant Suit, so I've been doing nothing in the game but cheating at poker, inevitably getting caught, & then losing in duels. I think I did manage to win one, and I've gotten better at the cheating. I think I'll finish the game eventually, but sandbox games + me = wasting tons of time doing things like going hunting or riding the train around. I love the inanity, and to me the environment is beautiful & fun to explore. Although I'm pretty paranoid about cougars & wolves now.

I typically only play the multiplayer as I just got involved with COD starting with the first MW. I have always prestiged through and I have always raced home from work to get some time in...this year I am sitting around 9th prestige and it seems more like a chore. Not the fun experience I have always had.

If you would like to watch something ridiculous...go to youtube and look up Black Ops Broken Camera.

It's sad that the game has not been fixed.

Wow. Yeah, I wouldn't want to play that multiplayer at all. Am I remembering correctly that Black Ops was good for multiplayer, or was it glitch-filled, too?

I sorta liked Black Ops (didn't regret buying it anyway), but I'm really glad I rented Black Ops II first. I got pretty disinterested in the campaign pretty early on. Not into the near-future concept at all.

I rode around on the trains quite a bit trying to finish off the moving challenges but I inevitably would end up near a quest and 'since I was in the area...' would always get back on task and start moving forward again. When I finished I think I only had like 15% of the challenges completed.

You've already gambled more than I did.

I just got done with RDR and have basically done everything possible. I think I'm at like a 97% completion or whatever, which means I've done all the challenges, found all the locations, got all the suits, captured all the bounties, etc. The only thing I have left is a couple final little things but I don't know if I'll actually finish everything cuz it seems kinda pointless if the main missions are all done.

I still have Fallout 3 which I never finished and Fallout: New Vegas which I haven't started. And I have the original Bioshock which I've never played either. Right now I'm just enjoying FIFA.

I never bought FIFA13, just updated the rosters as best I could on 12. Did I miss much?

Couldn't tell ya, last one I got was I think 10.

I thought this was the year that MVP baseball was coming back? Maybe EA is waiting for the next generation consoles.

Also, Far Cry 3 is pretty fun. I describe it as Call of Duty meets Assassin's Creed meets Grand Theft Auto in the jungle.

MVP Baseball is coming back? That would be awesome. That was my favorite baseball game of all-time.

MVP 05 was great. I actually really enjoyed MVP 06 as well, which was the NCAA version.

First full season that I simmed and Braun gets injured and at the end of the year retires........... I was not happy to see that at all!

So far I like the new hitting but when simming K's are down for starters. Highest K number for the year was Sabathia at 115 for the year.

Has anyone else beaten Bioshock Infinite yet? The gameplay is pretty enjoyable, especially the final battle, but the story is extremely complicated, weaving in and out of itself through time and space. Even after reading online to try and understand the parts of the story that I missed, I am still confused about some aspects. I'm debating playing it again.

Funny you mention it, I'm downloading it from Steam right now while I listen to the T-Rats game, I went back and forth deciding what to buy it for but I can play the game and listen to baseball on the computer.

I have a buddy who's been championing Bioshock since the original when I played was COD, GOW, and RPGs, this will be my first game of the series.
