Fall/Winter videogame lineup

I bought Diablo 3 directly from Blizzard yesterday (Monday). The 8 GB download for the game resulted in my cable modem traffic being throttled down well below 1MB/sec. I'm just hoping the game will be downloaded fully by the time I get home in a few hours.

I bought it yesterday as well and noticed the download was going slower than it should. I found this fix, it cleared it up instantly, give it a try if its still coming down slow.

Fun game so far.

Played about 20 minutes worth today, it's a beautiful game, and plays relatively similar to D2 so far. Truly hack 'n slash.

As far as I know, multiplayer co-op is already in the game. I was definitely grouping with friends during the beta.

should have specified, i meant PVP.

yes, I saw this trailer for Watch Dogs earlier today. I must say it looks really good! Of course, it's also "Person of Interest--The Video Game" (for those of you familiar with the TV show.)

I'm really looking forward to FIFA 13, sounds like they made a lot of requested changes to the manager/career modes. Hopefully the collisions in gameplay have been fixed somewhat, but I'm probably going to plunk down full price for it anyway.

I'm disturbingly looking forward to "Orcs Must Die! 2"... the first one was so fun, for so cheap ($8 I think, on Steam).... yeah. Stupid addicting puzzle games.

About to beat Dragon Age 2...Which got me thinking about a lot of my old rpgs I played as a youngster. I dove into my old box of games and realized I was missing a few. Apparantly when I was away at college my sister took them to a friends house and left them there. Not a huge problem except one of the games was Suikoden II, which used is still worth a pretty penny.

I am looking for opinions on MLB 12 The SHow. Has anybody played it? WHAT are your thoughts? Is this the best MLB game out there or what else? What system is best for game play (xbox, ps3, etc)?

How long does it take to play a game?

I don't have a gaming system since like NES or Sega, so any advice is appreciated.

The Show is only available for PS3 so that's your only option if that's the game you want. I personally only have a 360 so I'm limited to the MLB2K series but I've heard good things about The Show. If you were going to get a new system, I might lean toward the ps3 because of the built-in blu-ray as well as the Uncharted series which is only available on ps3. The 360 has kinect (which doesn't need a controller to hold like the wii or ps3's move) but that's about the only thing going for it. It also has the Halo series but I never really got into it.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

PS3 owner. I love the Blu-Ray feature Raw Biz noted. The Show is a good franchise -- while its longtime players might grouse that it hasn't really innovated as much in recent years and/or that it has its limitations, it's still the best baseball video game ever produced imo. I haven't played The Show in a while, but iirc a full 9-inning game takes a little over an hour to play.

Again to echo Raw Biz, one of the main drawbacks for PS3 would be no Halo, so if that's a big game for you then it'd be a tough call. I don't really play a wide variety of games, so I'm happy with the library available on PS3.

If you are buying for strictly sports games I think you would want a PS3. If you want shooters then I would go with the Xbox. Other than that either one would be good. Seeing as how you have been out of games for a while I would recommend the PS3.

Personally I would prefer to keep my Xbox way ahead of the PS3. I just like it better. If you buy a Xbox buy one with more than 4GB of memory. BluRay isn't a big draw for me as I would prefer to have a dedicated BluRay player to using the PS3. BluRay prices have come way down in the last couple years.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Usually love MLB The Show. Played every year since 2008 or 2009. Typically will get to July in season and play every game in doing so, thereby wasting 100s of hours of my life. I never tweak the settings and it usually produces exceptionally life-like games. There are 2-1 games. 10-8 games. 5-4 games. Generally speaking there is a lot of realism in the types of hits too. Not just singles and HRs like a lot of baseball games were.

However, MLB 12 felt like a huge step back for me. I all of a sudden couldn't hit and when I did square up anything it was a little nubber to the pitcher. Even when it says meatball with perfect contact, I was hitting soft grounders. Like I said, I have played this series now for 4-5 years and this was the first disappointing year. I would wait for The Show 13.

I liked 12 but didn't hit as well as I did in 11. 11 was my first year playing it, and I think I liked the gameplay and hit variety better in 11. There are a lot of SHOULD-BE doubles that I hit in 12 that end up being singles... and it bothers me.

I ended up going with ps3 & MLB2k12. Game play is awesome and I'm impressed by the graphics. I don't really get the season mode however. It seems like I'm unable to play a full season on this game at this point, because the "MLB Today Season Mode" is a counterpart to the real MLB season which is already over. When I try to start a season they automatically sync to the end of the season. Very disappointing to me as all I want to do is play a full season. If anyone knows a way around I'd be interested. Otherwise I'm going back to mlb2k11.
