I'm honestly still trying to finish oblivion. Granted, i just got it this year, but there is so much to do, and i want to experience as much as I can. The problem is, I don't want it to get boring and repetitive, which all huge games seem to do, so i won't play it all the time without mixing in games like Madden, or Red Dead Redemption. It's going to take me awhile, so I can't even think about Skyrim yet. But, I will eventually.
Thats how I am with every large game. Im just about to head to the landsmeet in DAo. Im on chapter 6 or 7 in FF. Havent touched either in about 4-5 months though.

Oh yea, Ive got DA2 just sitting as well. Wont touch it til I finish DAo.

Surprised this thread was all the way on the third page. Anyway, I spent some Christmas money today. The best part to just getting a PS3 this year is that all the old great games are around $20 or so, used. So I got MW2 for $20. Solid. But I also needed another controller. So I learned that there were holiday bundles of a controller + 2 games for five bucks more than just a new controller. I found a bundle with Resistance & Resistance 2. So that's a great deal, but it also makes me feel ill about how much profit mfgrs. are making on controllers at $55 per & games around there or more.

Anyway, I don't really know where to start. I've beaten MW1, & it was obviously great. I've read that MW2 is at least as good, if not better, so I have no worries. But the Resistance franchise also gets off-the-charts reviews. They're not the normal type of game I'm drawn to (I've played FIFA '12 exclusively for a while now, I'm addicted), but I'm excited to get them essentially for free.

I concur, Skyrim is a huge time sink. I think I played at least 40 hours before I worked on the actual campaign part of it. I don't really know what the main campaign is supposed to be. There is a lot of stuff to do. Love the game.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Skyrim has taken over my life. I did 120 hours on my first character and now I'm on my second. The game is addictive.

I'm at like 95 hours and have yet to set foot in Windhelm and have just gotten to Solitude. And I've done almost nothing in Falkreath.

I'm kind of like this with The Old Republic. It's my first MMO and it's my first game that I paid retail price before release to play. I'm loving every minute of it but it consumes my life.

No love for Arkham City here? Surprised. I've probably put about 30-35 hours into it, and it's hands down, easily the best super-hero game I've ever played. No surprise, after Arkham Asylum, but this tops AA in every way. I'm standing right at 50% completion. Once I finish all the side missions, I'll probably put it down. I'm not going to go looking for every single Riddler trophy, just to be a completionist.

I got Arkham City as an early Christmas present for myself as Amazon had it for only $30 one day. I've hardly played anything since. I loved Arkham Asylum, and it's one of the few games I have 100% completion on for achievements. I'd like to get 100% in this one too, but I don't know if I will, there is just so much more this time. I'm somewhere around 65% right now and still so many riddler trophies to collect. Also, for two of the challenges I'm in top 500 people.

The story in this one was far superior to Asylum I think, and as with the first, it's a simple joy to play.

For some strange reason I really enjoyed playing through AA much more than AC. I beat the main story on AC, then put it down in favor of Uncharted and haven't touched it since. It was awesome, and I know it was a better game than the first, but my enjoyment while playing through it just wasn't as high as AA.

I don't own either game - would you recommend just getting Arkham City?

You don't need to play Arkham Asylum for City to make sense. Arkum Asylum is a great game, Arkham city is an amazing game.......like, once in a generation type game. Honestly, without spoiling anything, the writing, script, and voice acting in Arkham City is head and shoulders above almost anything out there in the video game world right now.

Once I tire of Arkham City, I have Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 all ready to roll.

Thanks for the feedback, RoCo. AC sounds like the way to go (& I played a decent amount of AA, I just didn't buy it).

Man, I sooo wish I'd found the controller bundle with Uncharted instead of Resistance. After playing Resistance for a bit, I'm really thinking it's not my type of game at all. But I'm not going to give up on it yet. Uncharted just looks so cool!

I'm usually a year behind all games since I wait to get them cheap. I'm playing L.A. Noire now and am about halfway finished. My brother did get Arkham City for xmas so I will play that when I finish up LAN (I got AA for xmas last year and thought it was awesome). Then I still have Fallout 3 to finish which I got last year, as well as Fallout: New Vegas which I got this year. And I still want to eventually get the last two Assassin's Creeds after beating the first two. I don't even want to think about Skyrim yet since I've done like 3 separate characters with Oblivion and I know I would never play any other games if I got it.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

I "finished" Skyrim two weeks ago (100% acheivement completion, you don't really finish it). I've been working on The Sabotuer and almost have that finished. I just bought Majin and Bully to work on next. After them I'll borrow AC from my brother. I just got Uncharted (the first one) for Christmas, so I'll need to find time for that also.

As someone who has played through all of the Assassin's Creed games, Brotherhood is the one you want to play. AC: Revelations isn't a bad game, but it feels like the writers were content to spin their wheels to push out an annual installment between AC:B and AC3 this fall. (In other words, the one thing you don't really get from the game is actual "Revelations.")

My pile of shame includes Uncharted 3 & Portal 2; I'm holding out for the price drop I know will come for Batman AC. (Plus, I know I won't have time to play the latter anytime soon, with FF13-2 at the end of January, and SSX at the end of February.) Next game I'm actually going to play will be Bastion on XBLA.

You're going to completely revise that first statement after you play Uncharted 1, 2, and 3. I think maybe the reason I was disapointed in AC was because I had just played Uncharted 2 and then went to Uncharted 3 after.

I put about 2 hours into Uncharted 1 last night, and while the story is interesting so far, the amount of puzzle solving and ridiculous platforming is incredibly annoying. Some of the platforming sections require you to be ultra-precise with your landing and takeoff spots, and that's annoying when sometimes, the camera is adjustable, and sometimes, it's not.

Doesn't Drake let you know if you can make it or not by the way he orientates his body before jumping? I don't remember this problem at all, at least from 2 and 3.
