Fall/Winter videogame lineup

I'm pretty sure it'll have monthly charges for at least a year before, perhaps, dropping it like a lot of MMORPG have been doing.

It's probably the only game in the last forever years that I will be buying near release at full price. Almost all games that I own I buy a year or more later at clearance prices or via Steam sales.

Looking forward to it, really.

That's how I do it. I just got through Red Dead Redemption, and I'm working on Assassins Creed 2 now. I had just finished FFXIII as well.

Now the online shooters I play, I get when they come out. I got Socom 4 a few weeks after release. I don't like to get too far behind the 8 ball on those.

Well Bioware is making a new Kotor just as a MMO not a RPG. It looks to be a very good game. http://www.swtor.com/
They aren't making another Kotor, they are making another Galaxies. I doubt it will allow a pause between combat rounds. I'm sure it will be another click fest RPG-lite.
It is nothing like galaxies the developers have come out and said exactly this. All that I can really tell you is that I have been testing it. As for a click fest Kotor and other RPG's function just like this. Every game does actually.

Maybe I'm the only one who hates this, but I'm pissed that The Show changed the guess pitch in this years game. I understand that they wanted to make it more realistic, but I don't play games for realism, I play to have fun, and honestly batting .235 is not fun. I know, also, that alot of the online people hated the guess pitch, but there are a lot of people (I believe most) that don't play online and like to enjoy the single player. I enjoyed guess pitch the way it was, and at the very least they could have kept it and gave you the OPTION to use it.

I play guess pitch off but I am pretty sure there is an option to go back to the old way. The ONLY difference I think there is that you dont see the circle blink bright red if you pick both corrrect....is that what you dont like about it? Or is there something different?
If you want the bright red you have to choose 1/8 I believe it is as the guessing pitch and location. That will give you the red dot if you guess correctly.
Actually, there is only 1/4 and 1/6 and if you guess right on either, you get the red dot. What is different with last year is if you guessed fastball and you were right, you got the red dot no matter where the pitch was. Now you have to guess the location right to get the dot. It was just annoying at first, but I'm getting used to it. The main thing is, with my TV, the timing is way off, so if I'm wrong on the guess, and it's a fastball, I have to swing the second that the pitcher releases the ball, otherwise I'm way to late. It's basically impossible to tell if it's a strike or a ball, you just have to swing and hope that it's a strike. Mainly it's the TV, and I'm not sure what else to do to adjust it. I've tried pretty much everything. Anyway, Skymm looks awesome, but I'm looking forward to the final Assassin's Creed mainly, and Uncharted 3. The new Bioshock is supposed to be really great too. Getting very good reviews. Arkham City looks good, the new Metal Gear Solid, and Battlefield 3. Basically, there are a ton of great looking games coming out. Anybody played Killzone 3 or F.E.A.R. 3 yet?

Don't most games/systems come with a method of syncing you up with the TV?

I haven't really looked at much on my 360, but it does have settings for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All of those result in a slightly different amount of lag, but no discernible difference in picture for me. but I know guitar hero had something to sync up in the options menu.

Anybody know where that is on the ps3. Highlighting the box for 1080p doesn't really do anything. It's a 1080p tv and the game is supposed to be best in 720p I believe. But, i don't really know how to synch the tv and ps3 to run at the same resolution or whatever. I mean, does it mean that the tv has to be set at 720p or the ps3, or both. And if it's both, I have no idea to change the tv, not even sure that is possible.

My PS3 automatically goes to 720p if that is what the game requires and my TV will go to that resolution. One way to find out what resolution your TV is at is to hit the info button on your remote for your TV it will tell you what resolution you are in or at least all of the TV's I have owned have done this.

As for MLB the Show there is an option to change how fast the pitches are simulated at in the gameplay options. Try messing with that also I noticed with my TV I have to swing really fast and I can't see where the pitch is going before I swing so I have made the ball travel slower to be able to give me more time to see where it is going.

What kind of TV do you have? Lots of TV's have specific slots for their HDMI inputs for gaming as opposed to movies, this sort of automatically syncs up with the PS3 then.

For example:

For an Insignia HDTV: Make Sure that your TV is set to

Game Mode On, and Make Sure your PS3 is plugged into either HDMI 4 or

HDMI 5 witch are the HDMI slots the TV recognized for gaming.

It's a Hitachi 1080p LCD. The PS3 was plugged into the HDMI 1 port but i switched it to the 4 port. The timing on the pitching is good now. My RTTS guy is a starting pitcher and that seems to work really good right now. Haven't tried the hitting yet, but hopefully this solves it. Also the game mode is on. Thanks for the help guys.

According to this page, the requirements for Skyrim are the following:

Minimum System Requirements

* OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

* CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz or Althon X2 2.0 GHz

* RAM: 3 GB

* HDD: 15 GB

* Graphics: 512 MB card

* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible

* DirectX: Version 9.0c

Recommended System Requirements

* OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

* CPU: Core 2 Quad 3 GHz

* RAM: 3 GB

* HDD: 15 GB free disk space

* Graphics: 512 MB Graphics Memory

* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible

* DirectX: Version 9.0c

Supported Graphics Cards:

Minimum – 8800 GT

Recommanded – Geforce GTX 460/Radeon 5850

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz with a nVidia 8600 GT. The processor may just barely make it, but the video card is just under spec. Should I drop the $60 to buy it on PC and hope it works, or just suck it up and play it on a console? I like Oblivion on PC and can't imagine using a controller to play Elder Scrolls.

Yeah that makes a large difference. Sometimes you can't take them out and even when you can often times laptops are set to basically use all of there PSUs so you won't have enough power to run the new card. I haven't doen it myself but I've heard horror stories. Its usually not worth doing anything with a laptop outside of dealing with memory. But the good news then is you be running it at what, 1366 X 768 ? So you won' be taxing it as hard.

  • 1 month later...

I have it pre-ordered for the 360. GameStop texted me last night that I can come to their store at 10:30 tonight to receive it at 12:01. I have a job and can wait until Friday afternoon to pick it up.

I hope that a demo gets released for the PC. I'd like to see if it runs and then buy it from Steam once it goes on sale. Then I can sell the XBOX version.

I would love to go buy Skyrim tomorrow, but I just don't think I have time for a game like that right now. Planning on picking up WWE '12 in a couple weeks though.

I know the feeling, I finished the story mode of Arkham City last night (but at about 40% of the total game) and have had Uncharted Drakes Deception sitting there for however long unopened. I have no idea when I will get to Skyrim which will probably take me two months to finish. I think theres a new Assasins Creed too this xmas with another Mass Effect in the spring. The nice thing is I can probably wait a bit to buy those games when they go on sale for $40 or so.

Yup. I don't have time for any game right now and especially Skyrim. I'm going to wait until Christmas time when I have a few weeks off. I'm excited for it and I'll be watching a lot of reviews.....if they ever come out.

That's what I think. Frankly, I find it hard to justify paying $60 for a video game these days. Speaking of Assassin's Creed, I need to pick up Brotherhood yet, which I think I can probably get for less than $20 these days.

Amazon got me by offering $20 off my next videogame purchase if I preordered Gears of War 3 then $10 off when I ordered Skyrim. So Gears was full price and Skyrim will be $40 then my next game $50. Probably Mass Effect 3. Those 3 games will probably be all my game purchases until late next year. Other than the occasional $20 steam purchase.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I'm honestly still trying to finish oblivion. Granted, i just got it this year, but there is so much to do, and i want to experience as much as I can. The problem is, I don't want it to get boring and repetitive, which all huge games seem to do, so i won't play it all the time without mixing in games like Madden, or Red Dead Redemption. It's going to take me awhile, so I can't even think about Skyrim yet. But, I will eventually.

prophet]This time of year is a blessing and a curse. Way to many awesome looking games coming out. Happens every year. BTW, is this new Batman, better the same or worse than the first one? I've heard mixed things.

Personally I liked the first one much better, but I'm not sure why. It just seemed like a better experience even though this one had superior game play. In other words, I felt like I should have liked the new one better but I didn't.

Kmart has a great deal this week, where if you buy over $110 in games, they give you a $50 coupon towards a future game purchase. So, I snagged Battlefield, COD and am going now to get Skyrim for $10. I have my law school entrance test in two weeks, so I am not even going to open that Skyrim package. Or, maybe just a peek to see how pretty it is................
