It really doesn't fit your requirement for a good story but I would go with Borderlands. I just got done playing Borderlands and all it's expansions. It is a shooter with some RPG elements. DAO Awakenings is only an expansion so I don't think it will keep you busy all winter.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I did go out and buy Fallout: New Vegas. I've put in 16 hours already in 2 days, so yes I am enjoying it. I love all the new weapons, although I've decided to use Speech a lot to avoid physical confrontations. I'm also Caravan addict. It's way to easy to make money playing Caravan. My record is something like 20 wins to 2 loses.

I got a boatload of games over the last 2 months that I haven't been able to get into completely, but here's my initial thoughts on some.

COD Black Ops.

I honestly would love to know what all the hype is about. My SOCOM group all got into this, so to stay with the guys, I went and got this. The single player game was really cool, and worth playing through at least once, but it's pretty short (5 hours maybe). The online stuff.........honestly? Meh. I've played CoD, Battlefield, Socom, etc, and this doesn't stick out in any way, other than the customizing of the weapons a bit. But honestly, the online gameplay falls really flat for me, to go with the fact that their servers SUCK. Our group constantly gets split. We're constantly losing guys out of the match. Matchmaking and group management interfaces really just aren't as good as they should be. The action is way more 'arcadey' than I'd like.

Honestly, after playing MAG and CoD for about 10 hours each, I'd really prefer and recommend MAG.

As it is, I'd rate CoD twice. Single player 9.5/10. Multi Player 7/10.

EA MMA is ok. The biggest thing that holds it back is the rosters. There's just not many compelling fighters on this if you're an MMA fan. Most of the talent has been sucked into the UFC, and it shows in this game. The gameplay itself is solid, but just like the UFC games, doing 20-30 minutes worth of training gameplay between each fight is just not compelling or fun in any way. Realistic? Sure. I don't care if my game is realistic if it's not fun. The fighting and character customization is fun, the online stuff is pretty cool. Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10

AC Brotherhood. If you liked 1 or 2, just go buy Brotherhood. Now. 10/10

I didn't want to start a brand new thread on this, and I apologize if this has been brought up already. But I have a quick question about Call of Duty Black Ops. On the online zombie mode, what do you have to do to "beat" the first board? All I've seen is wave after wave of zombie but I don't know what you need to accomplish to beat the board. When I try to find the answer on the internet, all I can find is tips on game play. Can someone help me out?

I don't have an answer for you since I've never played the game, but I usually head over to gamefaqs when I get stuck. Try the Black Ops message board.

I am pretty sure you have to beat 40 waves or something like that. There are other ways to unlock other maps though. You need to beat single player mode and such. There are ways to get out of the room that you are in though. But I am sure you knew that.

Steam has Civ IV and V on sale this weekend. I bought Civ IV and 3 expansions for $7.50. Now I remember why I don't play Civ games anymore. Played for 9 hours straight just on the tutorial.

This was great. I sold my Civ IV and expansions to my brother in Sept for $15. Now I get them all back for half of that.

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

I have to replay New Vegas. Apparently I made all the wrong decisions and ruined everyones life. Fun game though.

At least you got to finish. I was at the final quest and decided to go explore more. My XBox 360 decided to crap the bed and red-ring. It's out of warranty and I'm not buying another one - I just can't bring myself to give more money to Microsoft to replace something that should never need to be replaced.

MLB The Show 2011 comes out in two weeks! I'm a casual gamer and bought a Playstation 3 this past winter JUST to be able to play The Show. I've been killing zombies in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for now, but I'm looking forward to this game very much! I hope that the new control system is an improvement.

Hmmm...I'll have to think about picking that one up as well. I haven't played my copy of 2011 in months though...mainly just got frustrated by the difficulty.

Wow, what an incredible trailer for Dead Island. Never head anything about this game but I've been loving RDR: Undead Nightmare. Just got a PS3 a couple months ago. I'm now very much looking forward to Dead Island. You'd think a trailer that good would produce a good game, but who knows. Anyone know more about the game?

Dragon Age 2 demo is out(at almost 2 gigs, it's huge). I really like it. They offer a change up in the fighting style, and while you can still use the old fashioned battle style, i like the new style out. I'll probably buy this a few weeks after release. I need to rent a copy of DA: Origins and beat that first(never finished).
