Harang has been Dusty'ed

Speculation that Aaron Harang of the Reds is experiencing a serious arm problem, and some spectacularily silly quotes from Dusty.

"I'm fine. I have no problems physically," he said. "Some days you wake up feeling good and some days you wake up feeling like trash. Sometimes when you wake up feeling like trash is a day you pitch. But it isn't anything physical."
I'm no doctor, but when you wake up feeling like trash, either you did something to deserve it, or you're not healthy.

Don't underestimate yourself, I think that was a fine clinical assessment.

Harang has absolutely been killing my fantasy team all year. Hopefully he can at least return the favor and get knocked around by the Crew on Sunday. For as good as he was last year, to be this bad this year, something has got to be wrong.

Harang's IP the past few years:

2007: 231.7

2006: 234.3

2005: 211.7

The guy has thrown a ton of innings the past few years; it was only a matter of time before he started to break down -- I don't think he's been "Dusty'd" since this is Dusty's first year, and Harang's been getting abused for a couple years now. He's definitely a horse, but it's starting to catch up to him. I still remember that 10-inning shutout he threw against the Brewers...ugh.

His problems, at least his lack of productive starts, began during that 17 inning debacle a few weeks back. After that game where he came in, for 3-5 innings of relief. After that it was shaky start after shaky start. Edison Volquez also came in, in relief that game.
